Huge database, game of the day, kibitzing, live games, puzzle of the day, and much more.
Chessgames.com-
Scichess.org-
For scholastic players in Indiana, this site is very useful. Includes a full schedule of upcoming events, a section about the rules of the game, and so much more.
Joepye.net-
The Joepye Chess Club regularly puts out a newsletter on chess happenings in the Michiana area.  Contains crosstables for past events as well.
USChess.org-
The official site of the United States Chess Federation. Includes rating information, a chess store, news about chess happenings, as well as lists of upcoming tournaments in every state. Very useful.
WholesaleChess.com-
My favorite online chess store.  They give huge discounts when items are bought in bulk.  Even such, their individual sale prices are usually much lower than what you'll find in Chess Life.
InstantChess.com
Have you ever been sitting at home with half an hour to kill and wanted to play a chess game?  I know a lot of the time, I would log on to Yahoo! or Pogo and do a seek for a 15 minute game, but it would literally take 10 minutes to find someone to play.  So, by the time I'm done with the game, I end up being late for something.  At instantchess.com, you'll never have this problem again.  As the name would imply, you simply click "Start Game" and you instantly get an opponent.  And if you sign up for an account, the site keeps track of all your games played and you can even export them as pgn files.  I can't tell you how many games on FICS I've wanted to have records of, but was unable to do so as easily as this site.  In other words, try it.  You won't be disappointed.
