NEC family 87AD is interesting old architecture. Writing stuff in pure assembler is my great hobby and I wrote some assembler software for various 87AD projects and this is another one.

NOKIA THS1LS is old 1992 model (some called it brick telephones because it was so big) and this is very good for me because integration wasnt so big yet and several ICs were used. This allows me easy reverse engineering and modifications of this circuit. As I remember tested this phone, only problem was with damaged LCD, so electrical circuit is OK I think.
Analysing this ancient ETACS software will be interesting... Never heard about ETACS? I'm too :)) It seems it was used in few countries only, mainly in Italy, Austria (my phone), UK, China, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Bahrain, UAE, Kuwait, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Australia., see: [4][5].
This system never was used in Poland, but we had similiar 1G system NMT in 450 MHz band. It was also analog system, so I could freely hear telephone conversations up to 2005 year. Transmitters on hills south of Rzeszow was so strong that once I heard it on retuned FM radio, even if mixer chip had catalog transition frequency much lower than 450 MHz! At the end of service it was used mainly by farmers around Rzeszow, so it was 'interesting' conversations about pigs, cows, etc, but in 1990s I remember once I heard Mafia guys talking about debts retrieving. In 1990s Fascist Poland was the same anticomunist country like known mafia state Italy (with polish Pope Karol Wojty³a who supported it). Mafia dear Comrades, is obvious outcome, if you don't have Communism your country will always be controlled by Mafia because Capitalism is system based on greedy and exploatation. In such system Mafia will always easily corrupt politicians, police and courts.
