     "Patingin-tingin, 'di naman makabili
patingin-tingin, 'di makapanood ng sine
walang ibang pera, kundi pamasahe
nakayanan ko lang, pambili ng dalawang yosi"

"Paamoy-amoy, 'di naman makakain
busog na sa tubig, gutom ay lilipas din
patuloy ang laboy, walang iisipin
kailangang magsaya, kailangang magpahangin"

When I heard this song from Yano way back in 1995, it struck me right deep into my nerves... Suddenly, everything reminisced during those times when I was still studying. I figured out that I'm not the only one who went through this kind of situation. I mean, they have composed this song through theirs' or other's experience so it can only mean that there are many people out there just like me. It's funny though that whenever I'm trying to recall those good 'ol days, I remembered myself as this sluggish, long haired college guy trying to spend some of his spare time roaming around shopping malls, dreaming that someday, I'll have this precious thing displayed inside this huge window. Those were the days, and those days remind me of how lucky I am right now for not having everything in front of me... It taught me of hard work and perseverance, of love and respect for the other people's struggle to have something or even the best thing for their family that they can afford, and most of all, it taught me how to become a man. A man that can accept what he have and what he don't. A man that not only thinks of himself but also the well-being of the people that surrounds him. A man that thinks of a problem as a challenge and not as an obstacle. A man who can decide...

Things happens, be it good or bad but what matters most is how you handled these things for the well-being of you or the people surrounding you. Every human being on earth have their own way of handling things, and time will come that you'll be remembering those decisions that you have made for your life. Whatever the results are, you can proudly say that these things happened because I have made that decision by myself. People make mistakes, we're a human being and it's acceptable, but having the same mistake the second time around is another thing. People learn from their mistakes but do keep in mind that we are not a scientist wherein you can use the trial and error method. It's your life that's in stake here and remember that regrets is always at the end. What's important is how you accept the results of that decision because you know that not all the decision that you have made will create a good result. I don't think you want to sit there in a rocking chair 40 or 50 years from now regretting that you have decided for something when you were younger and you just let it be like that. Think fast and think smart, this is your struggle... your fight for your freedom of expression and your right to decide... It's your life. Just don't forget to look back where you came from... so you'll know which way you're heading through.

Bakit maraming nalolokong tao, at hilig ang Middle East
Ano ba ang nandoon bukod sa buhangin, init at sobrang langis
Ngunit maraming gustong sumali 'di ko maintindihan
Tuloy pa ang pila sa Middle East Connection, recruiters and fixers and me

Wala pa ang passport, wala rin ang Visa, kulang pa sa pirma
Sabi ng fixer, ito'y 'di problema basta't mapera ka
Ako'y naniwala, umutang ng pera na ipamba-bayad ko
Nauna sa pila ng Middle East Connection, recruiters and fixers and me

Sa iisang kulungan sa Middle East Connection, recruiters and fixers and me
