Young Adult Book Project
Assignment
To demonstrate the importance of using supplemental resources in the classroom, you will locate an example of a young adult book that could be utilized in a secondary language arts classroom.  The book you choose should be a motivational read with many features to engage students.  Therefore, you will be required to choose a recent publication (1998 - present) from the following lists.

Categories:

- Background information: Information about me.

- Bibliography: Book citation with links to web reviews.

- Summary: My own synopsis of the book.

- Justification for use: Applicability for the 8th - 12th grade English classroom.

- Application to the classroom: Lesson plans and activities.

- Teacher interview data: Interview with an 8th - 12th grade English teacher.

- Student interview data: Interview with an 8th - 12th grade student.

- Library interview data: Interview with a librarian regarding this and other recently-published young adult books, as well as circulation trends.

- Links to TEKS standards: Justification for links to TEKS standards based on content of the book, justifications for use, and applications to the classroom.

- Links to TExES standards: Justification for fulfillment of TExES  standards for teacher education and certification as demonstrated through lesson plans and activities.

- Links to NCTE/NCATE standards: Justification for fulfillment of NCTE/NCATE standards for teacher education and certification as demonstrated through lesson plans and activities.
