                 Course Description
Teaching of the processes and skills for reading/language arts (grades 6-12).  Topics include teaching the reading and writing process, children's and adolescent literature, poetry, drama, listening/speaking, and media.
                  Course Rationale
This course highlights the various literacy skills of reading, writing, speaking, and listening.  Attention is given to the writing process and the evaluation of writing; teaching fiction and nonfiction literature, poetry, and folklore; developing listening and speaking skills; analyzing the media; and the use of drama to involve students in literacy development.  The purpose of the course is to highlight methods of literacy development.
