CAREY PARK JULY'99
The camp ministry of SoccerPlus NZ really came out of our first tour to The Czech Republic. After we came back the manager of Carey Park Christian Camp in Henderson, Auckland, Tim Long, invited us to run a soccer camp at Carey Park.  We had been a part of a camp in the Czech Republic and saw how successful it could be.
In July 1999 we ran our first camp attended by 77 children.
At the camp we coached, played a tournament and shared the gospel on a daily basis during our Bible Hour.
We were thankful for the contribution of Habib Makvandi to come and take a coaching session with the kids.  He is a superb coach and the kids loved him.
15 children responded to go on the follow-up system and continue to learn more about Jesus.
CAREY PARK JULY 2000
We were overwhelmed by the response to our second camp at Carey Park in July 2000.  We originally cut-off our numbers at 100, but because we didn't get the response for leadership we had hoped for we were forced to change that to 93.  As it happened we could have had more than a hundred if we had the leadership to cater for the response.
The camp, however, was great.  We ran the same format as the previous camp with some minor changes.
We were excited to have three guests come and meet the kids during the coaching programmes.  Kingz players Mark Elrick, Ivan Vicelich and Harry Ngata visited the camp on different days and were very well received.
To the gospel messages 20 kids responded to go on follow-up and received an encouraging letter from Carey Park and Wynton Rufer.
CAREY PARK JANUARY 2001
The numbers were a bit down this time (a pattern at most camps in January).  However we had thirty seven very happy campers.
It was great to also have a number of new leaders who contributed brilliantly to the coaching and fun for the kids.
The Bible hours were well received with a few kids (about 12) responding to go on to the follow-up.
The visits by Wynton Rufer and Andreas Bluhm were very well received.  Wynton came on the Wednesday evening along with most of the kids parents.  He shared for about 30 minutes about himself and his love for Jesus.
Andreas came the next day for breakfast.  He stayed for four hours and was an inspiration to myself and everyone their.  I was particularly impressed by his humility and friendship to the kids.

ONWARDS & UPWARDS
The future looks very bright for the future of the soccer camp ministry.  We are booked in at Carey Park for as long as they want us and we now have more opportunties.
With WYNRS backing, encouragement and support we are planning to run six soccer camps a year - one in each holiday and two at Totara Springs.
At the end of every January we  run one at Carey Park (see report).  In April we are booked in at Willow Park after a successful start.  We are then back at Carey Park in July and then our in Cambridge in October.
Check out the appropriate reports.
I've (Kim) worked in camp ministry since 1990 and am convinced that it is second only to Bible in Schools as an effective tool for reaching out to children.
We'd love you to consider getting behind this ministry and maybe being a leader or/and coach at one of our camps?
