CHAMPS

Soccer Plus NZ is a non-profit, inter-denominational mission organisation committed to communicating the reality of Jesus Christ and the need for salvation to all cultures, through the medium of Soccer.

We were invited to enter a team in the CFA seven-a-side tournament at Riversdale in Avondale.
A team of Kim, Bevan, Hamish, Zane, Jeff, Bryce, Todd (from Cambodia), Mark, Brendan and Tony went through our group stage with four out of four wins - 2-0, 4-0, 2-0 & 4-0.
In the quarter-finals we beat Cavaliers 3-0 and then defeated Darryn & Shane's (from tour 2000) team - Counties, 1-0.
Then came the final.  We came from a goal down to equalise through Tony and then take out the penalty shootout 6-5.
Bevan and Tony potted most of the goals (6 each) with two a piece to Kim and Bryce and one to Jeff.
We enjoyed being a part of a well run tournament and look forward to next years invite.  If they'll have us back?

Already we have a short history full of the work God has been doing through us.
In 1998 we sent a team of ninteen young and not so young footballers to Singapore and the Czech Republic on a short term mission.  You can read about this mission on the
Tour '98 page.
The success of this mission gave birth to Soccer Plus NZ.  Now we have a history.
Already we have run 2 Kids Soccer Camps and plan 4 in 2001, 2 Kids Soccer Saturday programmes with another one due in November and
Tour 2000 to Singapore and Cambodia.  Tour 2001 to Germany with Wynton Rufer is already set up for June next year.  More exciting and fulfilling times lie ahead for SoccerPlusNZ as we look to the Lord for opportunities to advance his Kingdom.
