FIGHT CLUB

1999 **** 139 mins.

On the surface, this may seem like what critics Mick Martin and Marsha Porter pegged it as: "This appalling, grotesque, and interminable endurance test is a fairy-tale fiction for serial killers, imbeciles who succumb to road rage, and frustrated white guys: all the morons who seek excuses to justify their increasingly bad behavior and hair-trigger tempers" (DVD & Video Guide 2005). Once you really look into it and allow yourself to be taken up in it, though, you understand why, as of September 12, 2004, it is number 39 on IMDb.com's Top 250 movies list. This is a great psychological action-packed thriller that succeeds admirably. The only reason I lowered it a star was that the "Project Mayhem" part of the story seemed a bit too much at times, and a little bit confusing. That doesn't mean, though, that it's not AWESOME!!!!!!!
