SHIPLEY MILL
The present mill is the largest smock mill  in Sussex built in 1879. In 1906 it belonged to Hiliare Belloc and it closed in  1926 when the miller moved to the water mill at Coolham.

The First mill mentioned in the parish was  in 1210. a watermill was known of in Knepp Park in 1326 and there was still one  there in 1803 and also a mention of a windmill.
Reference has also been made to a mill owned  by the Templers in 1262.
Coolham water mill is recorded in 1836 but  disused in 1909 and a Wind Mill on the west side of the village existed between  1825 and 1875 but was demolished in 1896.
