![]() ![]() WHY I BECAME A PRACTICAL NURSE Since early childhood, I had been aware of the increasing need for more and better health demands. Playing Nurse with my many doll-patients always gave me contentment and pleasure. It seems I was continually mending broken extremities, and giving them imaginary injections and pills for pain, adding love, comfort, and understanding with a promise to become a real nurse when I grew up. The desire to help and serve the sick and afflicted became a dire need within myself as I grew older. Many times situations occurred in our community when first-aid was necessary, and I was willing to offer my limited abilities. I was always eager to do so, and enjoyed each little task which confronted me, if only to stop bleeding, cleanse wounds, and apply dressings, or maybe comfort the fears of a small child who was about to enter the hospital for the first time. I love people regardless of race, color, creed, or age, and like to treat them all as separate individuals and with respect. There is no greater talent one can possess as that of love for people, and loving people is desiring them well and happy. A nurse plays a big role in achieving the health and welfare of humanity. One of my greatest desires was to be trained and skilled, having the ability and knowledge to meet the needs of my growing society. I desire to conserve life, and promote health in our world of increasing illness and disease. What better way can I achieve this goal and serve humanity than to further my education by attending an acredited school of Practical Nursing? This is why I became a nurse! :-) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Visit My Other Pages Below [ Home ] [ Personal ] [ Testimony ] [ My Miracle Son ] [ Waneta's Links ] [ My Nursing Profession ] [ My Mother ] [ My Husband ] [ The Prayer Room [ Index Of Poems! ] [ E-Mail Waneta ] My Daughters' Sites [ Sarah ] [ Dottie ] [ Jannie ] And my granddaughter: [ Heather ] ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() My Nursing Profession updated 2-2-01. |
