Graphics Processing Unit

The GPU

The Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) is a component that specializes in rendering 3D graphics such as high end 3D games. There are 2 types of GPUs: integrated and dedicated. An integrated GPU is integrated inside the CPU and they are much less powerful/faster than a dedicated GPU. A dedicated GPU comes as a single unit separated from the CPU. They are much more powerful/faster than integrated GPUs. In games a faster GPU means that the game would run smoothly and the Frames Per Second (FPS) will increase.
