Random Access Memory

The RAM

The RAM (Random Access Memory) is a computer component that is used to store the data and instructions of a program that is currently running. The reason why RAM is used is because is much faster than a HDD/SSD which reduces the time for the cpu to process the instructions and overall system performance. The more memory a computer has, the more applications can be used at the same time but if the memory has a lower capacity, the OS and apps may lag and perform slow because it will have to save the data and instructions to the slower HDD/SSD.
