History of the Hoax:
It all started on March 23rd, 2003. meelWORM, and Mike Haley were chatting about ways to liven up Chris' AGI Web Site message board. Not to mention Martin Kool's Good Old Adventures, which had been empty for awhile. meelWORM, and Mike Haley thought about creating a new personality to liven up the community. Conrad Sheldon was born. For the course of one month meelWORM, and Mike Haley played the role of Conrad Sheldon. There were some good times had on the board among everybody. It was decided that Conrad Sheldon should design his own web site. This sparked threads to appear on other message boards such as The Subspace Channel (local mirror), and Tierra Entertainment (local mirror) about how stupid yet amusing his site was. People couldn't get enough of his wacky use of the english language. Until an incident happened at the Mega-Tokyo (local mirror) message board that is. Someone who was later identified as KingPin impersonated the lovable Conrad Sheldon, and made him look like a jerk in front of everybody. That was when the conspiracy theories started. A moderator at Chris Cromer's board named Smartguy began accusing Conrad Sheldon of being a hacker named Curt. Meanwhile Martin Kool discovered the web site of another Conrad Sheldon. Finally on April 23rd, 2003 meelWORM, and Mike Haley decided it was time to kill off Conrad Sheldon. However, when Chris Cromer learned of these facts he decided to pull a prank on the very moderator who first accused Conrad Sheldon of being a hacker, Smartguy. Chris Cromer made it appear as though Conrad Sheldon had hacked his message board. Smartguy's web site was also hacked to redirect visitors to Conrad Sheldon's site. There were dozens of responses on the message boards which had Conrad Sheldon threads previously established. The whole thing had gone way too far. It was only a matter of time before the truth finally came out. On April 25th, 2003 Smartguy learned the truth, and so did everybody else who was still in the dark about what was going on. A tombstone was posted to mark the death of Conrad Sheldon.
Beyond the Hoax:
meelWORM, and Mike Haley worked on an AGI Conrad Sheldon character soon after the hoax came to an end. He can now be found in Good Old Adventures as a playable character. Conrad Sheldon will also be appearing in his own computer game titled The Big Con. It will be programmed with Nailhead's AGI Studio. Conrad Sheldon has a cousin, and his web site is titled Crazy Chuck's Used Car Emporium.
