One
song can spark a moment,
One flower can wake
the dream.
One tree can start a
forest,
One bird can herald
spring.
One
smile begins a friendship,
One handclasp lifts
a soul.
One star can guide a
ship at sea,
One word can frame the
goal.
One
vote can change a nation,
One sunbeam lights a
room.
One candle wipes out
darkness,
One laugh will conquer
gloom.
One
step must start each
journey,
One word must start
each prayer.
One hope will raise
our spirits,
One touch can show you
care.
One
voice can speak with
wisdom.
One heart can know what's
true.
One life can make the
difference,
you see it's up to You!

Important You Are
One Rose for Bessie
T.Lynn
She
listened...as she heard
a light tapping on her
door.
Taking a minute, Bessie
slowly shuffled across
the floor.
Years had crept in and
aches and pains now
Bessie's lot.
As she remembered, days
gone by, she became
lost in thought.
Years have passed away
since Bessie met her
own true love.
It was a moon lit night
and all the stars were
out above.
They began to dance
and as they danced the
night away,
This dashing young man
reserved a date for
the next day.
For several weeks, Joe
and Bessie become an
intimate pair.
They were young and
free thinking they didn't
have a care.
One day Joe told Bessie
he had to leave town
for a while.
He kissed her tenderly
and said good-bye with
a big smile.
Joe was to return, at
which time they planned
to wed.
Joe did not return and
Bessie's heart felt
crushed instead.
Days turned into months
and many months turned
into years.
Days she spent in sorrow
with the shedding of
some tears.
Joe had a mental breakdown
but he did not say a
word.
After Joe recovered,
he knew his words would
not be heard.
He didn't want to burden
her with fears of a
relapse.
He worried in the future
fear would cause love
to collapse.
Joe showed his love
for many years by sending
one red rose.
He sent it every Monday
morning so the story
goes.
This was Monday morning
as she shuffled to the
door.
Expecting one red rose,
just like all the weeks
before.
Instead she found a
rose and its color was
pure white.
With a note attached
that said; "Joe
died quietly last night."
Our Greatest Wealth
Unknown
We
are born with two eyes
in front because we
must not always look
behind, but see what
lies ahead beyond ourselves.
We
are born to have two
ears-one left, one right
so we can hear both
sides, collect both
the compliments and
criticisms, to see which
are right.
We
are born with a brain
concealed in a skull
then no matter how poor
we are, we are still
rich, for no one can
steal what our brain
contains, packing in
more jewels and rings
than you can think.
We
are born with two eyes,
two ears, but one mouth
for the mouth is a sharp
weapon, it can hurt,
flirt, and kill. Remember
our motto: talk less,
listen and see more.
We
are born with only one
heart, deep in our ribs
it reminds us to appreciate
and give love from deep
within
Princess
"Stormer"
A
mended heart.
A blind man sees.
Who, holds the key to
these mysteries?
I feel your heart beat
next to mine.
A brilliant light on
my soul, does shine.
I
was longing for a love
that's new.
Then I felt the warmth
of your love, so true.
Your beauty is such
a vision to behold.
With that angelic face,
I so long to hold.
Life
is too short to waste
even an hour,
for love some times
last, but the life of
a flower.
So follow you heart
and waste not a beat,
true love can only happen
when the right people
meet.
Our
love is special and
so dear to my heart.
I feel I would cease
to exist, should we
ever part.
So, princess I tell
you, that this I hold
true.
The one love I treasure,
is the one I call you.
Roses for Rose
Poppy
Red
roses were her favorites,
her name was also Rose.
And every year her husband
sent them, tied with
pretty bows.
The year he died, the
roses were delivered
to her door.
The card said, "Be
my Valentine,"
like all the years before.
Each
year he sent her roses,
and the note would always
say,
"I love you even
more this year, than
last year on this day."
"My love for you
will always grow, with
every passing year."
She knew this was the
last time that the roses
would appear.
She
thought, he ordered
roses in advance before
this day.
Her loving husband did
not know, that he would
pass away.
He always liked to do
things early, way before
the time.
Then, if he got too
busy, everything would
work out fine.
She
trimmed the stems, and
placed them in a very
special vase.
Then, sat the vase beside
the portrait of his
smiling face.
She would sit for hours,
in her husband's favorite
chair.
While staring at his
picture, and the roses
sitting there.
A
year went by, and it
was hard to live without
her mate.
With loneliness and
solitude, that had become
her fate.
Then, the very hour,
as on Valentines before,
The doorbell rang, and
there were roses, sitting
by her door.
She
brought the roses in,
and then just looked
at them in shock.
Then, went to get the
telephone, to call the
florist shop.
The owner answered,
and she asked him, if
he would explain,
Why would someone do
this to her, causing
her such pain?
"I
know your husband passed
away, more than a year
ago,"
The owner said, "I
knew you'd call, and
you would want to know."
"The flowers you
received today, were
paid for in advance."
"Your husband always
planned ahead, he left
nothing to chance."
"There
is a standing order,
that I have on file
down here,
And he has paid, well
in advance, you'll get
them every year.
There also is another
thing, that I think
you should know,
He wrote a special little
card...he did this years
ago."
"Then,
should ever, I find
out that he's no longer
here,
That's the card...that
should be sent, to you
the following year."
She thanked him and
hung up the phone, her
tears now flowing hard.
Her fingers shaking,
as she slowly reached
to get the card.
Inside
the card, she saw that
he had written her a
note.
Then, as she stared
in total silence, this
is what he wrote...
"Hello my love,
I know it's been a year
since I've been gone,
I hope it hasn't been
too hard for you to
overcome."
"I
know it must be lonely,
and the pain is very
real.
For if it was the other
way, I know how I would
feel.
The love we shared made
everything so beautiful
in life.
I loved you more than
words can say, you were
the perfect wife."
"You
were my friend and lover,
you fulfilled my every
need.
I know it's only been
a year, but please try
not to grieve.
I want you to be happy,
even when you shed your
tears.
That is why the roses
will be sent to you
for years."
"When
you get these roses,
think of all the happiness,
That we had together,
and how both of us were
blessed.
I have always loved
you and I know I always
will.
But, my love, you must
go on, you have some
living still."
"Please...try
to find happiness, while
living out your days.
I know it is not easy,
but I hope you find
some ways.
The roses will come
every year, and they
will only stop,
When your door's not
answered, when the florist
stops to knock."
"He
will come five times
that day, in case you
have gone out.
But after his last visit,
he will know without
a doubt,
To take the roses to
the place, where I've
instructed him,
And place the roses
where we are, together
once again."
Smile...
Unknown
She
smiled at a sorrowful
stranger.
The smile seemed to
make him feel better.
He remembered past kindnesses
of a friend
And wrote him a thank
you letter.
The friend was so pleased
with the thank you
That he left a large
tip after lunch.
The waitress, surprised
by the size of the tip,
Bet the whole thing
on a hunch.
The next day she picked
up her winnings,
And gave part to a man
on the street.
The man on the street
was grateful;
For two days he'd had
nothing to eat.
After he finished his
dinner,
He left for his small
dingy room.
He didn't know at that
moment
that he might be facing
his doom.
On
the way he picked up
a shivering puppy
And took him home to
get warm.
The puppy was very grateful
To be in out of the
storm.
That night the house
caught on fire.
The puppy barked the
alarm.
He barked till he woke
the whole household
And saved everybody
from harm.
One of the boys that
he rescued
Grew up to be President.
All this because of
a simple smile
. . .That hadn't cost
a cent.
Still I Rise
You
may write me down in
history You may trod
me in the very dirt
But still, like dust,
I'll rise.
Does
my sassiness upset you?
Why are you beset with
gloom? 'Cause I walk
like I've got oil wells
Pumping in my living
room.
Just
like moons and like
suns, With the certainty
of tides, Just like
hopes springing high,
Still I'll rise.
Did
you want to see me broken?
Bowed head and lowered
eyes? Shoulders falling
down like teardrops.
Weakened by my soulful
cries.
Does
my haughtiness offend
you? Don't you take
it awful hard 'Cause
I laugh like I've got
gold mines Diggin' in
my own back yard.
You
may shoot me with your
words, You may cut me
with your eyes, You
may kill me with your
hatefulness, But still,
like air, I'll rise.
Does
my sexiness upset you?
Does it come as a surprise
That I dance like I've
got diamonds At the
meeting of my thighs?
Out of the huts of history's
shame I rise Up from
a past that's rooted
in pain I rise I'm a
black ocean, leaping
and wide, Welling and
swelling I bear in the
tide.
Leaving
behind nights of terror
and fear I rise Into
a daybreak that's wonderously
clear I rise Bringing
the gifts that my ancestors
gave, I am the dream
and the hope of the
slave. I rise I rise
I rise

The Difference
Unknown
I
got up early one morning
and rushed right into
the day;
I had so much to accomplish
that I didn't have time
to pray,
Problems
just tumbled about me,
and heavier came each
task.
"Why doesn't God
help me?" I wondered.
He answered, "You
didn't ask."
I
wanted to see joy and
beauty, but the day
toiled on, gray and
bleak;
I wondered why God didn't
show me.
He said," But you
didn't seek."
I
tried to come into God's
presence; I used all
my keys at the lock.
God gently and lovingly
chided,
"My child you didn't
knock."
I
woke up early this morning,
and paused before entering
the day;
I had so much to accomplish
that I had to take time
to pray.
Take Time
Unknown
Take
time to laugh
It is the music of the
soul.
Take
time to think
It is the source of
power.
Take
time to play
It is the source of
perpetual youth.
Take
time to read
It is the fountain of
wisdom.
Take
time to pray
It is the greatest power
on earth.
Take
time to love and be
loved
It is a God-given privilege.
Take
time to be friendly
It is the road to happiness
Take
time to give
It is too short a day
to be selfish
Take
time to work
It is the price of success.
There's Nothing To
Fear
Unknown
There's
nothing to fear ---
you're as good as the
best,
As strong as the mightiest,
too.
You can win in every
battle or test;
For there's no one just
like you.
There's only one you
in the world today;
So nobody else, you
see,
Can do your work in
as fine a way:
You're the only you
there'll be !
So
face the world, and
all life is yours
To conquer and love
and live:
And you'll find the
happiness that endures
In just the measure
you give;
There's nothing too
good for you to possess,
Nor heights where you
cannot go:
Your power is more than
belief or guess ---
It is something you
have to know.
There
is nothing to fear ---
you can and you will.
For you are the invincible
you.
Set your foot on the
highest hill ---
There's nothing you
cannot do.
The Road Not Taken
Two
roads diverged in a
yellow wood
And sorry I could not
travel both
And be one traveler,
long as I stood
And looked down one
as far as I could
To where it bent in
the undergrowth,
Then
took the other as just
as fair
And having perhaps the
better claim;
Because it was grassy
and wanted wear,
Though as for that,
the passing there
Had worn them really
about the same.
And
both that morning equally
lay
In leaves no step had
trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first
for another day!
Yet, knowing how way
leads onto way I doubted
if I should ever come
back.
I
shall be telling this
with a sigh,
Somewhere ages and ages
hence:
Two roads diverged in
a wood, and I-
I took the one less
traveled by,
And that has made all
the difference.
You
Said
Todd Wielgos
You
said you were afraid
to go to a better place
until I lit the path
and took your hand.
You
said that you were afraid
to try
until I convinced you
that in my eyes you
couldn't fail.
You
said you couldn't share
your hurt
until I showed you the
scars on my heart.
You
said you wished you
could do things differently
until I convinced you
that it wouldn't change
how I felt about you.
You
said you couldn't fly
until I lifted your
arms and blew confidence
under your wings.
You
said you were too tired
to go on
until I lent my shoulder
to carry your load.
You
started to say you didn't
deserve.
I said be still and
know that you are special.
