My main area of work is been focused on the Increased Usability of the software we design and also make it look good aesthetically. In process of achieving this we are following a set of guidelines, certain globally accepted User Centered Design (UCD) methodologies and of course finally reviewing, auditing and testing them for their correctness. Right now we are challenged by technology to keep our self�s and guidelines to the latest trend. Constant up gradation of these guidelines (created by a team with lot of study and efforts) is big challenge as we are also had to cope with monitoring the existing projects which are on going. 
Another major area of the work is designing the navigation of application which is easy to use, less complicated and simple. Catch here is, it has to be functionally correct and it should be in line with existing business practices. Here I am highly dependent on the others like product consultant (for functions and business requirements) and Product architect for the information we needed in order to understand the user�s requirement. It is actually an irony that we are depending on these kind of second hand information rather than relying more on direct end user! Any ways we have lot of other reasons and constraints for not having direct interaction with end users and knowing requirement first handedly. But this way one can not go in long way. To over come this bottleneck I am confident of getting in to a company where there is lot opportunities to learn, meet actual/potential users and importantly customers requirements are respected.

Another major work done in my early software carrier was Icon designing, during Year 2000-2003. You can see some of the icons here. Most of them are designed keeping Microsoft icon design standards and our own guideline standards and iconic language which we created in the same process. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Methodology of User Centered Design in development cycle which was followed in my previous job at Baan can be seen in below picture:
