The Kane County Cougars play June 16th at 6 pm. The Class A Affiliate of the Florida Marlins, is one of the top teams in all of minor league baseball. Each game is a fun-filled night, but on Saturday, June 16 we will enjoy between-inning appearances by the Jesse White Tumblers, along with the Cougars' Jake the Diamond Dog, Birdzerk, and the Zopperstars. Win or lose, the night will end with fireworks and the opportunity to run the bases on the field for anyone who would like to try it. There will be a free give away, still to be announced. The Cougars play at Elfstrom Stadium on Cherry Lane at Kirk Road in Geneva, IL. The fastest way to get there is to take I88 W. to Farnsworth Rd. North (toward Aurora). Drive 5 1/2 miles to Cherry Lane, then turn Left, (Door-to-door Directions). The Cougars will be playing the Ft. Wayne Wizzards. Tickets are $7 each. If you haven't purchased your tickets already, you better hurry! Jill Hawkes will need your money and order by Thursday, May 3rd. FELLOWSHIP GROUP Jackie Waddick The group wishes to thank Don Barany for his interesting program given on "The History of Jazz" back on April 6. Twenty members came out for a potluck supper and to honor Lorraine and Pete Smith. The members present voted to donate $200 to the Wish List. They also decided that the next meeting would probably be in June and would be a dinner at the Edelweiss Restaurant on Irving Park Road. John Dutra agreed to get information on the restaurant and on boat tours. A boat trip on the Chicago River featuring either an architectural tour or an historical tour was discussed as being another future meeting. Independence Day Parade and Church Community Open House Keep this date open and join us to walk in the Sauganash 4th of July parade. Following the parade, perhaps you could be one of our greeters as we invite the entire community to have a look inside and learn what SCC is all about. When you are finished at the church open house, head down to the park for free food, fun and games! Volunteers are needed to help decorate our church's float (see Betsy Seno) for the parade and to greet area residents at the church doors and tell them a bit about us. If you are not out of town that day, we need you! |
