May's mission is designated to Teen Challenge. Teen Challenge is a nonprofit organization, incorporated in the state of Illinois and is completely supported by donations.
Teen Challenge's goal as a Christian organization is dedicated to helping individuals under the age of 18 to resolve problems such as crime, drug or alcohol addiction, and gang involvement.
We have invited "The Trophies of Chicago Teen Challenge" to Sauganash Community Church on Sunday, May 6. So look forward to an exciting service filled with their personal testimonies about their relationships with Jesus Christ and how their lives have been transformed, turning them into responsible individuals.
Our congregation was privileged to have had many beautiful, spiritual experiences during Lent and Holy Week. Many people contributed to the services and events. The Maundy Thursday soup and sandwich supper, the impressive Communion and Tenebrae service led by the pastor, stirring music provided by the choir and guest soloists, the lovely Easter lilies that decorated the sanctuary, the Easter service -- all of these happenings were successful because of the work and cooperation of dedicated parishioners. We all appreciate the efforts which enhanced the beauty of the season and provided us with meaningful religious experiences.
The Lay Ministry/Care Group Committee has some new members. Linda Naka, Nadine Wahler, Donna Savic, Martha Olson, and Lorraine Smith are now in the group. I wish to thank those who served in previous years.
Donna Savic has been recuperating from surgery. It was god to see her at services on Easter. A group from the Guild had a happy visit with LaVerne Wermich on her birthday. Please remember our shut-ins with cards and calls. |
