"Becoming a Community Club"

  Feb. 2002--CH@Home's 3rd Anniversary
 & 1st Anniversary at PeninsulaWorks
CH@Home's 3rd Anniversary
As most former Excite@Home employees gradually found work elsewhere, CH@Home concentrated on establishing its new identity as a community club. Working closely with PeninsulaWorks, CH@Home targeted unemployed members of the community as well as people working nearby. We are one of the few Toastmasters clubs that can brag that we lose members because they find work! In February and March 2003, CH@Home organized its first membership drive--"Operation Butterfly" with the goal of getting the club back up to charter strength of 20 members.

Randy Samberg Holding Her ATM-Silver CertificateBlaise Pabon, Gladys (Guest), and Tejal SwarCH@Home continues its successful educational program. On Sept. 12, 2002, we held a second special celebration, "Evening of Achievement". Blaise Pabon received his ATM-B that night and Tejal Vakil Swar received both her CTM & CL. In November, Randy Samberg received the club's first ATM-Silver award.

CH@Home held a new special event in January 2003. The New Year's Open House "SPEAKING of Resolutions" with guest speaker Joe Madley attracted a record number of guests--eleven! Three of them joined our club. CH@Home also continued its tradition of celebrating its anniversaries with new CTMs. This year Debbie Tucker and Karen Conley did the honors! By February 2002, CH@Home had earned 9 out the 10 distinguished club goals. On July 1st, Chat Home became a President's Distinguished Club for the second year in a row!

Louise Wolfe Holding Her Golden Quill AwardCH@Home also continues to win recognition at Toastmaster's higher levels. The club newsletter received the Fall 2002 Golden Quill Award for best in the district. Louise Wolfe earned the district's "Outstanding VP PR" award for Fall 2002 and Spring 2003. Debbie Tucker received Division C "Outstanding VP Membership" for Spring 2003. We also reached new levels of competition in speech contests when Louise Wolfe won the Division D Tall Tales contest and competed at the district contest.

Louise Wolfe, CH@Home's "Toastmaster of the Year" for 2nd year in a row, was again recognized as Area C1's and Division C's "T.O.Y." At the District Conference on May 3rd, Louise was also named "Toastmaster of the Year" for the entire district (which covers most of the Bay Area.

If you have Wednesday evenings free, come visit (and join) our successful and enthusiastic community club!
