My love for performance dance came as a result of four years of high school dance classes and performances. My main love is the wierd expressive modern style dance. This page is an attempt to help me keep track of the different companies I find online.
Parsons Dance Company - This man is a genius! I had the pleasure of seeing them in 1998 at Scottsdale Center for the Arts. It was the most amazing dance performance I had ever seen!
Pilobolus Dance Theatre - Innovative and original award winning professional dance company.
ASU Dance - This is the local university. They have a terrific dance company.
Orts - This is a Tucson based dance/trapeze company. They incorporate modern dance with flight! I can't wait to see them perform.
Diavolo - Diavolo has developed a movement vocabulary that creates an almost cinematic experience of powerful images that develop abstract narratives of the human condition.
Hubbard Street Dance - Touring professional dance company. Now celebrating their 25th anniversary.
Mark Morris Dance - Celebrating over 20 years of innovative and interesting modern dance.
Montreal Danse - This company features full-tilt movement, lavish staging and stylish costumes. I'm not sure if they are still around, but it would be cool to see them someday.
PPS Dance - "An astounding show that integrates not only dance but also visual and sound environments melting art and new technologies."
Vox Medusa - "Future Movement" choreography that tells stories of women's mythologies with modern perspectives.
