NOTES
Orion and the founding members do not appear this issue.
The Blue Beetle uses the password Kha-ef-re for his electronic notepad. This was the phase used by his predecessor, Dan Garret, to access his superpowers.
The Kingdom and the anomaly that the Linear Men are studying is a build up to the Kingdom Event. In the NEW YEARS EVIL: GOG one shot we say Gog murder the future Superman in the Kingdom Come universe. However he is alive and well in the 853rd century. This anomaly is due to how the Kingdom Come Universe (here just called the Kingdom) relates to the normal DC Universe. The answer lies in something called Hypertime which is to be introduced in the Kingdom Event week.
It is show as if Tempest has died in the Rocket Red armour in Montevideo but it is later revealed that he used his powers to escape at altitude.
The Atom is featured on this issues cover. It has been stated on the internet that Grant Morrison wanted to get the future Atom into the story but there wasn't space. He would have the ability to split and shrink, so he would become two half sized people, four quarter sized people and so on.
SYNOPSIS
The Justice Legion find themselves trapped in this era by the acts of Solaris whose Hourman Virus will kill all living things and machines within twenty four hours unless the Legion manage to find a way to defeat it. At the same time a black market Rocket Red battlesuit programmed by Vandal Savage to detonate in Washington was sent off course by the Hourman Virus effecting it circuitry. Instead the suit crashed into the Uruguay capitol, Montevideo exploding as a nuclear bomb.
The combined factors of a nuclear capable Vandal Savage and the Hourman Virus (which increases paranoia and aggression) serve as a dangerous mixture. Some of the more impulsive superheroes from this era blame the Justice Legion before they are carolled by the Martian Manhunter. Both groups then work together to help the survivors in Montevideo. Meanwhile the non-founding members of the JLA are trapped in the Watchtower and begin to look for methods to rescue the founding members from the future.
The power hungry Vandal Savage threatens world leaders with further strikes unless they surrender. To send them a further method he straps Supergirl, Arsenal and Jesse Quick into more remotely controlled Rocket Red suits and launches them at targets throughout the world.
