I frequently read the VN Boards and traverse Market Place and started keeping track of known thieves in game. This started as a simple post on the vnboards but has grown larger then that. Posts from the vnboards where information about listed thieves would sometimes be removed after so long to save IGN webspace. Because of this, Crilen007 of the vnboards started copying and hosting these links even after their deletion from IGN. Since the demise of Crilen007's websites, I've begun copying and hosting these links on my own webspace. I can only hope that this continues to work well and people will use it.

If a direct link becomes invalid, all threads are now copied and hosted here. Some, if not most, links were not copied here due to starting this process late. I would also appreciate it if anyone could provide a link or two for names currently listed as: "In Game - May Have No VN Rep. Need Link" or "Previous Posted Link Invalid".

Some of these name were retrieved during the break up of Phat Trader's rank chain when Pyro-elf destroyed it. I recognize the fact that some/most of the names on that list may just as well be rank mules, but they are suspect to being watched. If you see anyone who falls in that catagory, please contact me or have them contact me to have their name removed.

I also keep a list of numerous watched people in game, however, I've removed their names from this list as there's been no proof and/or confirmed thievery as of yet. If you're name is on here and you'd like to dispute this, please feel free to contact me.

---=== Thief Ban ===---

New to "Myst's Thief List" is the "Thief Ban" section. Here I will post links to downloadable files which can be used by any player on LC to automaticly ban any characters on the list from use of their bots or for notification that those players are in the area. I wrote this so the many people using such and such plugins can help in attempting to create consequences for in game actions. This is just another step beyond.

How To Install:
1. Rightclick on the "HERE" link for the file you want below. Select "Save Target As" and then select a location to save the file that will be easy for you to find.

2. Now go to where you saved the file, and open it up (should just be a normal Notepad TXT file).

3. Here you'll need to find where your program saves it's already constructed character list.
-AC Trade: C:\Program Files\AC Trade\(Name of the trade bot you use - server name)\accounts.lst
-CastAwayBot: C:\Program Files\CastAway\banned.txt
-ELTank (banning usage of ELBuffBot): C:\Program Files\Tank\buffbot.xml
-ELTank (Griefer Alarm): C:\Program Files\Tank\eltank.ini
-InsaneBot: C:\Program Files\Insanity-Inc\Insane-Bot\BotConfig.xml
-Greeter: C:\Program Files\Greeter\Settings.xml

4. -(Only for AC Trade, ELTank (ElBuffBot), and InsaneBot)- Rightclick on the file, select "Open With", select "Choose Program", and then select "Notepad". You may or may not have to do this, but I added this just in case.

5. Now with both files open (the one downloaded from here, and the one you already had), go to the file you just downloaded from here. Go to the top of the window and press "Edit", and then select "Select All". This should highlight everything. Now go back to "Edit" and select "Copy".

6. Now go back to the file you just opened.
--CastAwayBot and AC Trade: You should just be able to use "Edit" at the top of the file, and select "Paste". Keep in mind that in this file, the names will be stored where and how you added them. This is important because when you attempt to update this list later, you'll want to delete what you pasted this time. You wont want to have two of the exact same names on the list, which is why you'll want to delete before pasting a new copy. You prolly have some names you've added personally as well, you DON'T have have to delete names that aren't in this list.
--InsaneBot: Scroll down the file until you get to the section which lists "SecurityRules". The default name for the thieves area is called "-- Thief Bans --" and is located in the "SecurityRules" section. You may or may not have any thieves listed there, but right under "-- Thief Bans --" is where you want to "Paste". Keep in mind that in this file, the names will be stored where and how you added them. This is important because when you attempt to update this list later, you'll want to delete what you pasted this time. You wont want to have two of the exact same names on the list, which is why you'll want to delete before pasting a new copy. You prolly have some names you've added personally as well, you DON'T have have to delete names that aren't in this list.
--ELTank BuffBot: Buffbot.xml has a certain spot you need to be at to paste this. When you have it opened in Notepad, look for the text "<BuffBot>", just click right after that, but before any other "<" symbols, and then select "Edit" at the top of the screen, and then "Paste" from it's menu. This will add all names into the Buffbot.xml file, banning all thieves listed here from your buffbot. Please keep in mind, the name at the top of the list you downloaded from here. In the future when you go to update, you'll need to find all the entries from the last time you added names, and delete them. You can't have the same name listed twice, so that's important.
--ELTank Griefer Alarm: ELTank.ini has a certain spot and a numerical system for adding names. When you have it opened in Notepad, look for the text "[ALERT]". Click right below that line, and then select "Edit" at the top of the screen, and then press "Paste". That'll paste the complete listing into ELTank.ini, now giving you an audio/visual alert when a thief is in the area, or if a thief messages you. Please keep in mind that ELTank wants names in a specific order (Name1=, Name2=, etc), and you cannot leave a space. Because of this, I have numbered all names in my list in order (1, 2, 3, etc, etc). When you want to update ELTank.ini, you'll need select all the names you added this time, and delete them so there's no name repeated twice. Also, if you've added anyone to your list already (doubtfull, but possibly), you'll need to re-number the people on your list. Here are two examples of what you CAN'T have (Name1=Jim, Name1=Tom) and (Name1=Jim, Name3=Tom, with no name2=).
--Greeter: Actually hoping to get in on the ground floor since this plugin was just recently released. If you've never added anyone to your lists in "Greeter" simply download the settings.xml file from the website here and place it in the Greeter folder. This will make your toon emote, You say, "THIEF ALERT: Player is a known thief and in the area!" <|Greeter|> -b-. I decided to use the bot tag -b- so that plugins to filter bots would work with this, but you may or may not decide to change the warning. If you HAVE set up names before, simply open the downloaded file from here, as described for ELTank, and copy the names from the this file to your existing file, and then copy the Group Name "Thief" into your file so the character names will have the correct outloud warning.

7. Go to the "File" option at the top of the window and select "Save". You have now banned all listed thieves from using your bot.

*Note: I know this will work with these programs, HOWEVER, I don't know how they'll react if you already have a person in the list saved in your file.
*Note: I plan to update these files everytime I update the list here, so if you've already downloaded one of the "Thief Ban" files, when you go to copy the updated listing into your files, make sure to delete all the entries copied (names) from the last time you copied the listing into your files.

*Note: Thief Alarm is a function in ELTank's "Messages" page when you select the "Comms" tab. It wont list the names in game, but will play an audio sound when one of them comes in the area and "Griefer Alarm" is turned on.
