Dragons go Back-to-Back!
Capture 4th Title in 6 Seasons (12/15)

The Dragons tonight won their 4th Championship in 6 Seasons! And a unprecedented back-to-back championship, in different divisions. The Draogns rode the goaltending of MVP Jim Marks and the scoring of the East Hartford Mafia's Dennis Connors (2 Goals) and the game winner by EHM Mike Connors.

While the voting for the MVP was again VERY close, the committee just could not ignore the net minding of Marks in the voting over the 7 playoff goals by Dennis Connors.

Taking an early lead, scoring 2 goals in the first and one in the first minute of the second, the Dragons saw that 3-0 lead evaporate over the following 5 minutes. The game remained scoreless until Mike Connors scored the series winner with 1:31 left in regulation.

Also getting into the scoring column tonight were: Doug Stewart (1g 1 a), Rit Carter (2a), and with one assist a piece Mick Pechenuk, Ray Glowicki and Chris Szymula.

This makes the 4th Championship for the Dragons over the last 6 seasons and for a team which had not won one previously this is quite the accomplishment indeed.

The MVP went to goalie Marks who again kept the Dragons in the by stopping 30 of 33 shots in the finale. And by his facing an incredible 101 shots and saving 91 over the course of the playoffs. Once again withstanding a 3rd period anslaught of 16 shots.

The Dragons next return to action when the new season is launched sometime after the 20th of December, schedules are released on Tuesday the 17th.

CONGRATULATIONS DRAGONS!

Dragons Take 1-0 Lead!
Win Overtime Thriller (12/11)

The Dragons took a 1-0 lead in the E deck Finals tonight on the wings of a 5-4 overtime win over Greenchiefs. Scoring two goals including the Suhweeet! game winner was EHM Dennis Connors (2g 1a 3p). The Dragons led 2-1 heading into the third period only to find themselves down 4-3 with less than a minute to play when Doug Stewart scored with :30 left to send it into OT.

Once again keeping the Dragons in it with his OUTSTANDING net minding was Jim Marks, saving 31 of 35 shots. Including an anslaught of an incredible 20 shots in the third period. Captain Dave Carter was overheard saying after "we have got to do a better job of protecting our own end, One of these days Jim won't be there to save our asses!"

Also getting into the scoring columnn tonight were: Stewart (2 goals), Ray Glowicki (1g 1a), Mike Connors (1a), Rit Carter (1a) and Chris Szymula (1a).

Up next for the Dragons is game 2 aginst these very same Greenchiefs, Sunday 12/15 @ 6PM.

Dragons Gain Finals!
Knockoff Whalers in Semis (12/8)

The Dragons gained the "E" Dek finals with a win over the second seeded Whalers 7-3. Scoring 4 goals in the first period the Dragons never trailed in the contest.

Leading the scoring for the Dragons was East Hartford Mafia member Dennis Connors with the Hattrick and an assist. Not to be outdone in his first game back after serving a two game suspension was forward Ray Glowicki with two goals and an assist.

But the most spectacular goal of the night was the first one for the Dragons scored by the other member of the EHM, Mike Connors, on a phenominal pass from ASSIST LEADER Doug Stewart. All Connors had to do was to put a stick on it to deflect it past the Whaler goalie. BUT the effort involved in going from end to end by both players was what made the play.

Also keeping the Dragons in it was goaltender Jim Marks, stopping 30 of 33 shots. Making several outstanding saves on shots on the second period when the Dragons were outshot 16-6 and giving up only 1 goal.

Also getting into the scoring tonight was - Dave Spencer with the final tally. Also offering assists besides the aformentioned Stewart were Steve Lamonica (2), Rit Carter (3) and Mike Ugliorolo (1).

Up next for the Dragons is the Greenchiefs, winners tonight 6-0 over the Goodfellas, Wednesday 12/11 @ 10PM.

New Feature!
SI in the House? (12/5)

Recently, a Sports Illustrated reporter (Frank Deford) spent some time with a number of Dragon players. See what they have to say about this and that. While not guaranteed to make it into print, we were given a transcripted copy of each interview. Choose from Mike Connors, Dennis Connors, and Doug Stewart.

Deposit Due by the 13th
Contracts need to be signed by 12/13 (12/4)

The roster for next season is in and management would appreciate it if a couple of players would place some cash down to give the rink the impression that we are coming back. Management would like to avoid hurried phone calls from league officials questioning the fiscal health of the franchise. Please try to get some money down by the 13th.

Playoff Dress Code

The we enter the playoffs for the E Division, and we are likely to encounter at least a couple of teams which also wear white. I want to make the other teams wear the PINNEYS! Dragons End Successful Campaign
3-2 Loss Closes Out 7-4-1 Season - Payoffs Loom Ahead (11/28)

The Red and White closed out their "E" Division season with a loss tonight to division leading Goodfellas, 3-2. The Dragons finished the season 7-4-1, which is good for at the very least third place. This was a game the Dragons could and should have won. Leading 2-1 with 4 1/2 minutes to play the Fellas scored twice before time expired to steal one from the Dragons.

    Stats write up to follow.

The Blanc et Rouge now await the Playoffs which do not begin until Sunday December 8th. The first game for the Dragons is at 10PM vs the Whalers (currently 7-4, with a game against these same Goodfellas).

    Dragons Tie Flat Tires
    2-2 Deadlock (11/25)

The Dragons tied with Flat Tires tonight. With Joe Morrissey netting his first goal as a Dragon and Dennis Connors scoring the other the Dragons managed a tie with the 5th place Flat Tires.

Despite what amounted to a 4 minute power play due to an injury for the Tires, the Dragons were still out shot 33-25. Eric Vieweg filled in for regular goalie Jim Marks and netted the tie.

Also netting assists for the Dragons were - Doug Stewart, Mick Pechenuk, Steve Lamonica and Dave Carter. The Dragons close out the regular season with a game Wednesday 11/27 against division leading Goodfellas at 9PM.

    Judgement Handed Out
    Suspensions and FInes Abound (11/22)

The ruling body today meted out a suspension to Dragon Ray Glowicki. Glowicki received a 2 game suspension for his part in the fracas at the end of the Greenchiefs game on 11/20. Also as part of his punishment, the Dragon Kangaroo Court also fined Ray an undisclosed amount and ordered him to do 100 hours community service. Upon completion of the 2 game suspension, which takes him to the end of the regular season, Glowicki will be allowed to rejoin the Blanc et Rouge for the Playoffs.

    Dragons Clinch Playoff Spot
Late Penalties Marr Solid Effort (11/20)

The Dragons clinched a playoff spot tonight with a 5-3 win over the Greenchiefs. While this W avenges an early season whitewashing the game was marred by some late brain freezes on the part of some Dragons.

Getting goals from 5 different players the Dragons spread the ball around. Scoring tonight were Mike Connors, Doug Stewart, Ray Glowicki, Steve Lamonica and Dave Spencer. Assists were handed out to Connors, Stewart (2), Lamonica and Defenseman Dave Carter. Playing even for two periods (2-2) the Dragons struck for the go ahead goal and ultimate winner by Stewart. The goal was set up by a great stop in their own end by Mike Ugliorolo to start a 2-on-1 break by Lamonica and Stewart. Dave Spencer added and empty netter just before time expired and things got out of hand.

The full ramifications of tonight's actions still remain to be seen as rink officials need to meet. But it looks like only Ray Glowicki will get any suspension time out of the fracas. Actual penalty minutes handed out were counted in the thousands tonight which is uncharacteristic of recent Dragon squads. One observer at rinkside thought that Rob Wisniewski had made an emergency appearance for the Dragons the way some people had bullseyes on their jerseys tonight.

Management fully supports the actions of its players with the exception of the to-be-suspended Glowicki. And feels that none this would have occurred had the officials taken more control of the game. While physical they seemed to let some questionable play go on both sides of the ball.

Up next for the Dragons is the Flat Tires Monday 11/25 at 6PM.

    Wiremold Down for the Count
    3rd Win over Wiremold 5-4 (11/13)

The Dragons completed the season sweep over Wiremold tonight with a 5-4 victory. Startin off very slowly the Dragons scored twice in the first period on goals by Steve Lamonica.

But at the end of the first stanza it was 2-2. The East Hartford Mafia made their presence felt by notching goals in the 2nd and 3rd periods. One each by the Brothers Connors. Closing out the scoring tonight was Ray Glowicki.

With the win tonight, the Dragons inched closer toward securing a berth in the playoffs. At 6-3, they have also guaranteed a .500 record for themselves this season.

Up next Wedneday 11/20 at 8PM for the Dragons is Greenchiefs.

    Uniform Note!!
Have Alternate Red on Hand (11/7)

Team Management has made a decision. As Management is tired of seeing it flagship franchise wear the DREADED Pinneys, all Dragons should come to each game with both jerseys. This is due to the high number of teams in the "E" Division that currently have white as their predominate color.
As witnessed last evening, the pinneys ARE NOT good luck for those that wear them. So please try to have your red and white jerseys with you for each game.

    Dragons Avenge Earlier Loss
Take Game 5-3 from the Whalers (11/6)

The Dragons avenged an early season drubbing at the hands of the Whalers tonight with a 5-3 spanking of the same Whale. Taking an early 3-0 lead the Dragons withstood a mini comeback from the Whale but in the end were just too much for them.

Leading the scoring tonight was Ray Glowicki with a pair of tallies, Doug Stewart chipped in with a goal and an assist. The Defense was heard from tonight as Dave Spencer and Mick Pechenuk tossed in goals. Spencer was ultimately the game winner to put the Red and White up 4-2. Rounding out the scoring tonight was Mike Connors and Rit Carter with helpers on the Pechenuk tally.

With the East Hartford Mafia in full attendance tonight the crowd was estimated at 7. This is up from the usual 3.

Up next for the Balnc et Rouge is Wiremold for the third time this season, next Wednesday (11/13) at 9PM.

    Seems Like Old Times
3-2 OT Win Over Flat Tires (10/30)

In a game resembling last season the Dragons won a 2-1 Ot thriller last night over the FLat Tires. Scoring for the Red and White last night were Doug Stewart and Ray Glowicki (Game Winner). Despite being outshot 25-12, the Dragons pulled out the win with backup goalie Eric Vieweg making 24 unbelievable saves. Vieweg made his debut in net for the Dragons a memorable one as he kept the Dragons in it.

Chipping in with helpers on the goals were Mike Connors and Mike U.

Up next for the Dragons is the third and final game with the Whalers, next Wednesday November 6 at 10PM.

    Dragons Off the Schnide
    Knockoff Previous Unbeaten Goodfellaz (10/20)

The Dragons won tonight on an outstanding effort from all present. Playing with only 3 subs (so did they), the Dragons put on an offensive anslaught. Winning 7-4, they were led by the hattrick from Steve Lamonica (3 1) and scoring his first goal in almost 3 years Rit Carter (2 2) chipped in with a pair of tallies. Rounding out the scoring tonigth was Doug Stewart (1 3) and Dave Carter (1 2). Throwing in 3 helpers along the way was Chirs "Schmoo" Szymula.

Quoted after the game Stewart was heard to say "ya know the opposition is in trouble if the Carter boys are getting into the scoring column". This brings the Dragons back to .500 level at 3-3. After taking a forfeit loss the night before to the Whalers the Dragons bounced back nicely despite the absence of the East Hartford Mafia.

The Dragons get a well desrved break now and don't play again until October 30th against Flat Tires at 10PM.

    Players Fined
Kangaroo Court Metes out Punishment (10/18)

At recently held Kangaroo Court the following players were issued team fines:

  • Mike U - Giving out the Dragon Playbook
  • Rit C - for goosing an opposing player while on the dek AND admitting to it!
  • Dave Spencer - Who in their right mind closes AND moves during Hockey season!

Please see the Cashier at the next game.

The Dragons Walking Wounded List (10/18)
    Two Players Require Surgery (10/18)

Management would like to wish a speedy recovery to recently acquired winger Joe Morrissey from his quadruple bypass operation and hope to see him out on the deck very soon. And to longtime Dragon Jim Gaglione who will undergo an appendix transplant on the 30th of this month. Jim ask to keep the old one, you may never know when a spare appendix will come in handy!
No flowers guys, management does want to incur a Kangaroo Court fine! Its only surgery not a wake!

    Dragons to Forfeit 10/19
Lack of Players causes Cancellation and Forfeit (10/18)

Due to a horrible lack of players, the Dragons have decided to forfeit Saturday's game with the Whalers. "With only 5 players actually available Saturday night it makes more sense to just not play rather than force 5 or 6 guys to play iron man and get your brains beat in" Team Captain Dave Carter.

    Streak Abruptly Ends
    5-0 Whitewash by Greenchiefs(10/17)

The Dragons modest 2 game winning streak came to an abrupt end Wednesday night with a 5-0 loss to the Greenchiefs. Despite the moral support of injured winger Jim Gaglione the Dragons mustered little offense this night. When asked about the 10 shots they took all night an anonymous player quipped "How'd we ever get 10? Its a miracle."

On a similar note the Dragons learned tonight that there will not be enough players available for the game Saturday against the Whalers and they will take a forfeit. Dropping the record to a dismal 2-3. The next game for the Dragons is Sunday 10/20 @ 6PM against Goodfellas.

    Dragons Continue Winning Ways
    3-1 Win Over Wiremold (10/12/02)

The Dragons made it two in a row over Wiremold tonight with a 3-1 win. Leading the scoring once again was Doug "Kreskin" Stewart with two goals. Ray Glowicki also chipped in with a tally.

the Dragons are 2-1 on the season and play next on Wednesday (10/16) at 8PM against the Greenchiefs.

On a another note the legend of the "East Hartford Mafia" grew a little larger tonight when another former East Hartford King joined the Dragons. We want to extend a warm welcome to Joe Morrissey, as he joins the Dragons. This was an extended negotiation which took place over many seasons as neither side could agree upon a contract for Morrissey. But finally management and Joe hammered out the details and signed the former King.

    Winning Ugly
    Hold on for 5-4 W (10/10/02)

The Dragons led by the HATTRICK of Doug Stewart held on for a 5-4 win over Wiremold. Quoting many Dragons players after "It was ugly but we'll take it", the Dragons at times had trouble clearing their own end but had just enough in the tank at the end to hold on for the W.

The upcoming week or so should prove interesting for the Dragons as they play 4 games in 9 days (Sat, Wed, Sat, Sun). Up next for Team White and Red is Wiremold in a repeat of last nights opponent, Sturday night at 9PM.

    Blowout
Auspicious E Debut for the Dragons (10/3/02)

You have to go back 4 seasons to find a performance like the one the Dragons put up on the board last night. The Dragons dropped a 9-2 stinker on the unsuspecting Whalers. After scoring the 2 goals in the first period and holding a 2-1 lead after one period, the Dragons well neglected to show up for the final 20 minutes. Leading the scoring was Mike "Capo" Connors tallying both scores for the pinneyed Dragons.
Up next for the Dragons is Wiremold next Wednesday (10/9) at 10PM.

Dragons Roster Changes for New Season
Some Old Faces Joining The Blanc et Rouge (9/28/02)

After winning the F Championship the Dragons have been forced to make a couple of changes in the roster for the new season. Re-joining the team full time for this season are Ray Glowicki and Chris Szymula. Dropping to part time for the upcoming season is defenseman Dave Spencer, and due to medical reasons Jim Gaglione will be taking a season off. Also joining the Dragons for the first time is former EH King Joe Morrissey on a part time basis. For the full roster go the Roster Page .

    Special thanks to Dennis C.

For the impetus to create a Dragons web page. And for more than just a little of the HTML!
