Coach's Comments
2003 Titans

    4/17/03 - Sioux City North
These are the nights that really hurt, when you play a great team and a great game and you as a coach can't be there. I am still in Denver and have been waiting and waiting for the call to see what happened and how we did. The call finally came and even though the news was heart breaking, I have to tell you that I am very proud of the team and what I heard. We managed to play a great game but the ball bounced against us tonight in the second overtime. We lost tonight 4-3 in the second overtime but we learned a lot about ourselves and you know what, we learned they can be beat. We played very well and we are very proud of every one on the team. Adam Cooney played his heart out. We marked Adam up on their top scorer and Adam made him a non factor. Justin Toole played a great game and finished with 31 saves which breaks the school record of 28 set on 5/8/2001 by Ryan Willer in a Double OT loss to AL. Congratualations Justin. Of course you know the tape will have to be reviewed and the saves will have to be verified. We are proud of everyone tonight and believe that we left everything we had there on the field tonight and that everyone gave all that a coach could ask for. This is a tough loss but we know it was against a quality team that can be beat. We will see them again and we will be ready.

JV fell short again tonight but not with out a fight and a well executed game plan. We just didn't finish again. Pablo Navarette played a great game and had some excellent cross's that we didn't take advantage of. Ben & Joel Edwards and Bobby Durand played their hearts out and did what they could to put this in the W column. We fell short tonight 1-2 in a game that looked again at times like the varsity was on the field. That is a great sign and one that makes a coach feel good. We are young and you will get tired of hearing me say that. But all in good time it will pay off. This quality and youth at the JV level is making Varsity that much better. We have people at the JV level that are hungry and believe that they can and should be at the Varsity level. Their time will come, and when it does, look out. Keep it up gentlemen, you can only get better as long as you continue to believe and work hard.
