Color and Value

Color: A shape may have color.  Color comes in red, yellow, blue and other hues.

There are primary color, secondary color and tertiary color.

Primary colors

PRIMARY                  COLORS

Red, yellow and blue

In traditional color theory, these are the 3 pigment colors that can not be mixed or formed by any combination of other colors. All other colors are derived from these 3 hues.

SECONDARY   COLORS

Green, orange and purple

These are the colors formed by mixing the primary colors.

TERTIARY                 COLORS
Yellow-orange, red-orange, red-purple,     blue-purple, blue-green and yellow-green.
These are the colors formed by mixing the secondary colors.

Value

Value is how much light is in a painting. Value is the lightness or darkness of a color. Value are the basis of any painting.  Without values we would have no textures, shapes and sizes.   You can get different values of a color by mixing its shades and tints.
