Information

The Pereira X-28 was a single-seat flying boat built by George Pereira, a private builder. It was not only known by the Sea Skimmer designation but also as Osprey I. The US Navy commissioned the plane through the Naval Air Development Center as part of a study for patrol missions in Southeast Asia. The study required that the aircraft be capable of flight under visual flight rules (VFR), lightweight, cost fewer than 5,000 American dollars in quantity and be able to be manufactured in Southeast Asia. The aircraft was first flown on August 12, 1970

The only craft built is now on display in the Kalamazoo Aviation History Museum.
