NOTES ON THE DESIGN OF THE TORHAVNIAN CROWN
Please note: he basic unit of currency is Torhavn is the Crown (abbreviated TCr). The most unique characteristic of the TorHavnian Crown (TCr) is that all forms of the currency are made of hemp paper (no metal is used).

The money system of TorHavn is as metric as possible: the TorHavnian Crown is divided into 100 units called a "daggett," in honour of the martial stance that TorHavn has taken. A daggett is a very small weapon also known as a push dagger.

Then: five daggetts equal one (1) "bodkin," and two (2) bodkins make one (1) "dirk," etc. and five "dirs" make half-crown (which basically exists for the same reasons as there is a half-dollar in the US system.

All units of currency are either warrior- or ecology-based, and each unit has "equivilents" in the US currency system (because it is more or less metric, like TorHavn's measuring system, ie: The daggett would be equal to a US panny; the bodkin a US nickel, and the dirk a US dime, and so forth).

On those units greater than one Crown, the denominations are as follows: five (5) Crowns equal one (1) "gladius;" two (2) gladius make one (1) "Terra," etc. The Crown is linked in value to a commodity that is both warrior-based and recyclable: bar steel. The exchange rate is one (1) Crown is equivilent to one US pound of bar steel. This rate is currently updated once every year.

The current exchange rate of 1 Crown to 1 U.S. Dollar is: ** $.80 **
