FINAL NOTE: CONCERNING SECESSIONISM AND SOVEREIGNTY
The Kingdom of TorHavn, as does many other micronationally-based entity,
claims TRUE sovereignty. Prevailing precedents in the realm of international
law, especially including those established in the Montevideo Convention on
the Rights and Duties of States (1933), fortify this claim.
This Convention also contends that sovereignty of a certain state exists
despite the lack of recognition by other states. As several states are
signatory to this Convention, and that no country has yet contested this
claim to sovereignty, we consider we are justified in the direction THAT we
take.
However, the Kingdom of TorHavn is not engaged in, nor associated with any
movement or group which advocates, nor strives to bring to fruition,
terrorist, or anti-government activities (including nihilist or anarchist
goals).
Furthermore, although we do aspire to be recognized, all the world over, as a fully-functional sovereign state, at this time, we have not achieved this goal, nor do we anticipate such success in the near future.
Thank you.
