Hyperevolution Organism Data Sheet

Giant Wolf Ant

KINGDOM: Anamalia
PHYLUM/DIVISION: Arthropoda
CLASS: Insecta
GENUS/SPECIES: Antus Eatus
COMMON NAME: Giant Wolf Ant
BASE ORGANISM: Pavement Ant
ORIGINAL NICHE: Small Scavenger CHARACTERISTICS OF ORIGINAL ORGANISM: 1/10 to 1/16 inches in length, black or brown, six legs, three body sections, mandibles, lifts 20x its weight, eat juices from foods
NEW NICHE: Small-Size Pack Hunter (land and trees): Travels in very large packs (about 100-500) and prey on vegetation or animals (if weak). Drinks the juices from food and leaves the remains behind.
ADAPTATIONS OF ORGANISM TO NEW NICHE: Slowly as the wolf died off, and the remaining larger predators did too, they often left some food behind in their larger prey, with the ants being able to come and eat it. The ant has grown larger due to the food and nutrition it gets. It has also become stronger and has a stronger body structure due to the food and due to the decreasing predation. However, since the ants are still quite small, they are liable to hunt in packs, for more power.
BIOME TYPE/HABITAT: Temperate Deciduous Forests
NUTRITION: Juices from any living plant or animal
ORGANISM INTERACTIONS: Live in large colonies and are only eaten if they are alone or sick. They are predators of many insects, small mammals, and plants.
BEHAVIOR: Certain tasks are given to ants in a colony and the hunters (about of the colony) are seen the most. Mating occurs in the colony nest and the queen ant(s) are the only ants in the colony that produce eggs.
