NEW NICHE: Dominant Air Predator (Diurnal) ADAPTATIONS OF ORGANISM TO NEW NICHE: Due to more food available, the sparrow grew larger, and also gained sharper and stronger claws to make it easier to attack animals. Their wings also grew a little longer, so they could fly better, and they received a shorter tail to be less obvious and a little faster. The head and beak also flattened to make the sparrow a little faster and aerodynamic. BIOME TYPE/HABITAT: Temperate Deciduous Forest NUTRITION: smaller birds, small to mid-size mammals, fish. ORGANISM INTERACTIONS: only prey if sick or young, female builds large nests for 4-5 eggs, predator to any animal that is unsheltered. BEHAVIOR: territories enforced during mating season, mate with each other for entire life, both male and female raise young, mating season is during spring. |
