NEW NICHE: Large Land/Tree Predator
ADAPTATIONS OF ORGANISM TO NEW NICHE: The cat has grown due to more available food sources, and has gained sharper retractable claws to rip flesh open easier and to climb trees. It gained more camouflaged colors to its coat to hide easier, stronger hind legs to pounce onto animals easier, and a thin layer of membrane in the back of its eyes in order to gain night vision.
BIOME TYPE/HABITAT: Temperate Deciduous Forest
NUTRITION: Rodents, mid-size mammals, large insects, fish, eggs
ORGANISM INTERACTIONS: Kills its prey and carries it on a tree branch where it can eat safely, prey to large mammals (badgers) and large birds, solitary hunter
BEHAVIOR: Males will compete for mating privileges to a female, females mate with as many males as possible in order to receive a large litter, breeding season occurs in winter, offspring are born blind and unable to walk.
