Bob Dylan was born Robert Allen Zimmerman on May 24th, 1941 in Duluth, Minnesota. Dylan started to write poetry at the age of ten. In 1959, he began studies at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. A year later, he dropped out and traveled to New York City. He went to Greenwich Village and he also visited Woody Guthrie, who was hospitalized in New Jersey with a rare nervous system disease. He wrote a few collections of poetry, but focused more on music, recording many successful albums. Dylan is still living and performing.
