( B )   GOD & JESUS THE SAVIOR  OT & NT PROOFS

Both in the Old Testament and New Testament, the divine character and nature of God the Father and Jesus Christ His Son as Saviour further proves that when Jesus walked earth as a man He was still God.  Beginning in the Old Testament, God shows Himself to be the only Saviour of Israel and mankind;

[11] I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.  -  Isa. 43:11

[21] Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and
there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me.
[22]
Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.
[23] I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.
[24] Surely, shall one say, in the LORD have I righteousness and strength: even to him shall men come; and all that are incensed against him shall be ashamed.
[25]
In the LORD shall all the seed of Israel be justified, and shall glory.   -  Isaiah 45:21-25

[4] Yet I am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt, and thou shalt know no god but me: for there is no saviour beside me.  -  Hosea 13:4

Also see Isa. 45:15; 45:17; 49:25-26 & 60:16.  The Old Testament prophets clearly reveal that the Lord God is the Saviour and Redeemer of all men.  These divine qualities and characteristics are made evident about Jesus Christ in the New Testament;

21.  And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt
call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
22.  Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
23.  Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son,
and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. -  Matt. 1:21-23

[11] For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.  -  Luke 2:11

1.  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God.
2.  The same was in the beginning with God.  -  John 1:1-2

[25] And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.
[26] And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before
he had seen the Lord's Christ.
[27] And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law,
[28] Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said,
[29] Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word:
[30]
For mine eyes have seen thy salvation,
[31] Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people;
[32]
A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.   -  Luke 2:25-32

Notice that Simeon says of Jesus, the Lords Christ, that He is salvation and light to the Gentile and Israel.  This salvation is confirmed by Paul in his letter to the Roman christians when he writes;

16.  For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto
salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.  -  Romans 1:16

The prophet Isaiah prophecies of Jesus Christ the Messiah with these words;

6.  For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller,
The mighty God, the everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.  -  Isaiah 9:6

Clearly with these prophetic words, Isaiah writes of Jesus Christ the Christ child.  The Saviour of sinful mankind who was born into the world.  Jesus Christ is the mighty God who walked as a man on earth of whom Isaiah wrote.   John also writes this testimony about Jesus;

20.  And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in
his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. -  1 John 5:20

With this testimony from John, scripture is clear.  Jesus Christ is the true God and eternal life.  Furthermore, concerning Jesus, the New Testament scriptures further prove;

[42] And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.  -  John 4:42

[8] Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.
[9] Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip?
he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?
-  John 14:8-9

45.  And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.  -  John 12:45

[23] Of this man's seed hath God according to his promise raised unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus:
-  Acts 13:23

[20] For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:  -  Phil. 3:20

[3] For this is good and acceptable in the sight of
God our Saviour;
[4] Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
[5]
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
[6] Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.  -  1 Timothy 2:3-6

[3] But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of
God our Saviour;
[4] To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and
the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour. -  Titus 1:3-4

See also John 8:42; 10:30 / Matt. 10:40 / John 15:23 / Acts 5:29-32 / 1 Tim. 1:1; 4:10 / 1 John 5:20.  Based on these scriptural proofs, Jesus Christ and God are one and the same.  God manifested Himself in the flesh and blood form of a man ( 1 Tim. 3:16 ).  The name of that God/man was called Jesus Christ.  A few more scriptures testify that Jesus is the saviour;

10.  Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by
the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
11.  This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
12.  Neither is there salvation in any other:
for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. -  Acts 4:10-12

10.  Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.  -  2 Tim. 4:10

18.  But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.  -  2 Peter 3:18

There are other equally substantial proofs that Jesus was God on earth in regard to other scriptural characteristic profiles.
