( F )   GOD & JESUS - LIGHT

5.  This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that
God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.  -  1 John 1:5

5.  And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
-  John 1:5

9.  That was
the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
10.  He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.  -  John 1:9-10

16.  For God so loved the world, that
he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world;
but that the world through him might be saved.
18.  He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19.  And this is the condemnation,
that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.  -  John 3:16-19

12. Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.  -  John 8:12

See also John 9:5 & 12:46.  The apostle Johns letter to the church shows that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.  Jesus says of Himself in Johns gospel that He is light and that whoever believes on Him should not abide in darkness.  These scriptural proofs in regard to the inherent characteristic of light establish that both God and Jesus are one and the same.  Thus, when Jesus Christ was a man on earth He was also, in truth, God.  The apostle Paul also testifies to the inherent characteristic of light of Jesus Christ;

3.  And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him
a light from heaven:
4.  And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?
5.  And he said, Who art thou, Lord?
And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.  -  Acts 9:3-5

8.  And I answered, Who art thou, Lord? And he said unto me,
I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom thou persecutest.
9.  And they that were with me
saw indeed the light, and were afraid; but they heard not the voice of him that spake to me.
10.  And I said, What shall I do, Lord? And the Lord said unto me, Arise, and go into Damascus; and there it shall be told thee of all things which are appointed for thee to do.
11.  And when
I could not see for the glory of that light, being led by the hand of them that were with me, I came into Damascus.  -  Acts 22:8-11

Paul, formerly Saul of Tarsus, testifies that the Light he and his men saw was Jesus of Nazareth.  God is light and Jesus is light.  Jesus is God and was God when He was a man on earth.   Again, the apostle John writes;

32.  And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.
33.  And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.
34.  And I saw, and bare record that
this is the Son of God.
35.  Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples;
36.  And looking upon
Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!
-  John 1:32-36

23.  And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.   -  Rev. 21:23
