( K )    MATTHEW 1:20-23

20.  But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
21.  And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name
JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
22.  Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
23.  Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name
Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. -  Matt. 1:20-23

14.  Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.  -  Isaiah 7:14

In the gospel of Matthew is clear evidence that Jesus was God on earth.  In verse 21, the angel of the Lord instructs that the name Jesus means that He shall save His people from their sins.  In verse 23 once again the scriptures fulfill and confirm Old Testament prophecy as given by Isaiah.  The name Emmanuel which means, God with us, was also the name given to Jesus Christ.

Jesus, the man who was born into the world was God with us and the one who would save His people from their sins.  These descriptions clearly fit God as He reveals Himself in the Old Testament scriptures;

2.  And he said, The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;
3.
The God of my rock; in him will I trust: He is my shield, and the Horn Of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.
4.  I will call on the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.  -  2 Samuel 22:2-4

[17] For the LORD your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward:  -  Deut. 10:17

1.  But now
thus saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.
2.  When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
3.
For I am the Lord thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.  -  Isaiah 43:1-3

[1] And God spake all these words, saying,
[2] I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
[3] Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
[4] Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
[5] Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
[6] And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
-  Exodus 20:1-6

16.  Thou shalt also suck the milk of the Gentiles, and shalt suck the breast of kings: and thou shalt know that I the Lord am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob.  -  Isaiah 60:16

4.  Yet I am the Lord thy God from the land of Egypt, and thou shalt know no god but me: for there is no saviour beside me.  -  Hosea 13:4

See also Exodus 15:11 /  Psalms 71:19; 86:8-9; 106:21-22 / Isaiah 43:10-13; 45:21-25; 49:26.  Jesus Christ, when He was a man on earth was by His very name the Saviour and Redeemer of all mankind.  Jesus Christ, by His very name was God in the flesh while on earth.

( L )    EVERY KNEE SHALL BOW, EVERY TONGUE SHALL CONFESS OT & NT

The scriptures provide via the Old and New Testament that Jesus is God because it is to Jesus who in truth is God to whom every knee will bow and confess that He is Lord;

21.  Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the Lord? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me.
22.  Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.
23.
I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, that unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.
24.  Surely, shall one say, In the Lord have I righteousness and strength: even to him shall men come; and all that are incensed against him shall be ashamed.
25.  In the Lord shall all the seed of Israel be justified, and shall glory.
-  Isaiah 45:21-25

11.  For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.  -  Romans 14:11

9.  Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
10.  That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11.  And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.  -  Phil. 2:9-11

If Jesus were not God then these passages of holy scripture would conflict with one another.  In the prophet Isaiah and in Pauls letter to the Roman Christians, the scriptures write of every knee bowing and every tongue making confession.  To whom is every knee bowing and to whom is every tongue making confession?  To Jesus Christ the Lord who is in truth, God.
