5/27

As filler since we had no game this weekend, here is a re-cast of the different views of the All-star game last year.  Chuck sent out a team e-mail detailing his view of the game.  Having been the other Cub in the game, I had to correct his version of the story.  Enjoy!  Click here

4/15

Great practice on Saturday guys.  We are looking pretty good.  Only if we can get Marvin to throw to the right base, we'll be OK.

Frank has some cage time in Woburn Wednesday at 9:00 and we are trying to set up some time on Thursday at 9:00 also.  I will try and confirm this Tuesday.

We have the Board meeting on Thursday, so for Marvin, Scott and Oscar, I will have your uniforms there.

The game is Sunday at Shedd Park.  Please try and be there by 7:45 if possible.  Jason, you are exempted as usual.

If it looks like rain, check the OTB site this site or the OTB site at www.otbinc.com.  Jack and I will try and call everyone also if it is canceled.  If you do not hear anything, assume the game is on.  I will have a phone tree set up to hand out Sunday.

4/8

So Saturday was our first live batting practice session.  And to start things off, Chuck pitched to one of our newest members, Oscar Colvin.

Chuck warms up and Oscar steps in to face live pitching.  I am sure Oscar was thinking back to last year and that good feeling you get from good contact.  The smell of the grass, dust in your eyes, meaningless chatter from the fielders.

Oscar digs in knowing that Chuck will throw a fastball since we are limiting the pitchers at this point and don't want to surprise the batters.

Now, Oscar is a bigger guy and digs in pretty well.  Chuck looks to the signal and winds up.  The fielders anticipate a ball hit their direction.  Jerry readies himself to receive the pitch.  It's going to be a beautiful day.

Somewhere in the midst of a Norman Rockwell moment being anticipated by the players, Chuck ruins it all and nails Oscar in the ribs with the first pitch of season.  Oscar is asking for the Board's phone number.  The new players are shrinking back in fear.

What a way to start the season.
