25 Family Bushwalks In and Around Canberra

This is a book we have had for some time and we are getting back into again. We went of a few walks but after the Canberra Bushfires and with most of the National Parks closing we haven't been for awhile. If you are looking for local walks suitable to take children along this is an excellent book. It includes estimates of time (Note: we take about twice as long when our children walk with us), Directions from the Canberra PO, difficulty rating and a written guide as to what to expect on the walk. Each walk has about a one to three page write up.

Photography for the Joy of It

Photography for the Joy of It is a photography book that is all about taking photos not using cameras. It is excellent in its coverage of techniques in framing and composition. It discussed methods to capture difficult setting and uses actual photos to demonstrate the discussed techniques. You should be familiar with your camera before you read this, but otherwise it is aimed at a novice looking for tips.

The Lord Of The Rings 2: The Two Towers

The Lord Of The Rings 2: The Two TowersWell it is taking longer than expected but I have finished the Two Towers. This book is an excellent read, I'm just having trouble finding time to read. The book is you classic middle book, so the ending leaves the characters in a dark and impossible position from which they need to save Middle Earth. Having formed the fellowship and started the quest, in the Two Towers the fellow is broken up and many paths are taken. With Gandalf have to catch up from fighting the Balrog and Merry and Pippin meeting the Ents and storming the White Tower to Frodo and Sam meeting Gollum and getting into Moria. Once again the attention to detail is incredible The descriptions of the landscapes and the pointing out of irrelevant details just makes you feel like you have been in middle earth all the time.

The Fellowship Of The Ring

The Lord Of The Rings 1: The Fellowship Of The Ring By J R R Tolkien /This is the first book of The Lord Of The Rings series. It follows the adventures for Frodo in a quest to destroy the One ring that rules over all the other rings in Middle Earth. The story is amazing in the richness and detail on the world the J. R. R. Tolkien has created. An all time classic that impresses with the broad feeling created as if you were following along in Middle earth.
