Verisign intercepts all typos and floods internet

Verisign has implemented a service where by any mistyped domain names ending .com or .net will be redirected to their Sitefinder web service. This will try to suggest the correct web site. Now given that Search engines like Google has been able to redirect users to the correct site for years, this new "service" looks to become the bane of users. While doing a search for http://www.microsft.com I received five "Cannot find server or DNS Error" instead of "The domain name does not exist" on the sixth attempt I finally get the Verisign page that suggests domains including this dead server www.micros0ft.com This also prevents my browsers ability to help me out because it believe I has arrived at my destination. Lets see if ICANN can sort them out.

Updating maps

This is what my brother gets up to at his work. He is responsible for updating about six of the maps and helping on about 10 others.

Geoscience Australia has launched the first complete map of Australia compiled since 1968.

The map is based on high-resolution satellite images.

Five hundred and thirteen pages were laid out on the floor of Parliament House in Canberra today to create a giant 1:250,000 scale map of the continent, covering nearly eight million square kilometres.

The revised map took seven years to finish, compared to 20 years for the earlier version, which was based on aerial photographs and ground surveys.

The new map will be used to create a seamless electronic version which will be posted on the Internet by early next year. Source ABC

PC case Mods

The latest thing to do is to mod the case of your PC so that it reflects more about you than the manufacturer. It a little like people who modify cars by adding Play Stations and DVD players along side mag wheels and turbo engines. Well it has become an extreme level when you check out these examples. Everything from V8 motors, kegs of beer and and an Atari look a like

PCs are a marvel of engineering on the inside
