Greenchiefs Shutout Dragons
2-0 Loss Ends Season (11/20)

The Dragons Fall 2003 season ended last night with a 2-0 loss to the Greenchiefs. Just never getting their offense untracked the Dragons gave up 1 goal in each of the first and third periods.

Again keeping the Dragons in it was netminder par excellance Eric Vieweg, making an "unofficial" 23 saves on 25 shots. Asked later what it felt lke to only see 25 shots the goaltender answered "in which period?"

Well the Dragons Fall season may be over but another is just around the corner, the Dragons open next Tuesday at 8PM.

As the new season opens we will see the entire East Hartford Mafia back in full swing as center/winger Joe Morissey returns to the floor and also rumored to be returning is the mysterious winger Steve Lamonica. Lamonica returns from the a season in hell with a rather poorly constructed expansion team.

The Dragons knocked off Team EW Friday night 3-2 to cap a 7-4-1 season and head into the playoffs next Wednesday on a high note. With almost a full squad the Dragons feel behind 1-0 early but then scored two third period goals to take the 3-2 victory.

Dragons Drop One to Dilligaf
Lose 4-3 (11/8)

The Dragons dropped a 4-3 decision to Dilligaf Friday night. Despite playing with key players out and supported by solid net play by Sub Goalie Dave Spencer the loss drops the Dragons to a fourth place finish this season and a first round playoff game with the Whalers.

Facing a night with several key absences - Eric Vieweg:Emergency Apedix Transplant, Doug Stewart: Gangraneous Ankle, Jim Hannon:On the lam from the FBI for Tax Evasion the Dragons on hand competed and made a lasting impression on the 6 fans in attendance.

Getting goals from Mick Pechenuk, Rit Carter and Jim Gaglione the Dragons could not muster enough offense. Mike Connors (they missed some assists I think) added to only Draogn assist on the evening. Dave Spencer stopped 25 of 29 shots and kept the Red and white in it all night.

Up next for the Dragons is the season ender with Team EW Friday 11/14 at 8PM. And then the playoff game on 11/19 8PM with the Whalers.

The Dragons split two games this weekend, dropping a 4-3 game to Dilligaf and beating up on the Demons 10-0.

In Friday's game against Dilligaf, the Dragons came back from 2-0 and 3-2 deficits only to give up the game winner with 1:52 left in the third. The Blanc et Rouge were led by Doug Stewart's 2 goals and Kathy Higgins sole tally in the loss. Adding helpers were Jim Gaglione, Mike Connors, and The Schmoo.

Doing his stellar job in net was Eric Vieweg despite a wrenched back stopping 31 of 35 shots on net.

In Sunday's game the Dragons were never headed as they scored four first period goals and never looked back.

Led by Rit Carter's 5 point night (4g 1a) and newly acquired Jim Hannon's pair of net twisters the red and white just were not tested by the opposition. End Losing Streak Start Another
Knock Off Team USA 3-2 (9/8)

The Dragons won 3-1 last evening behind 2 goals from Doug "call me Kreskin" Stewart. Between limiting Team USA to a mere 18 shots(that's gotta be a mistake!) the Dragons seemed to control the game in spurts. But the ofense provided by the lne of Mike Conors, Jim Gaglione and Stewart was enough to defeat Team USA.

Also in the scoring column last night was Jim Gaglione (1g 1a) and Mike Connors (3 assists). And as always stupendous in net was goalie Eric Vieweg making 16 saves on 18 shots.

The win ended a 3 game losing streak dating back to last season. Up next for the Dragons is Greenchiefs on friday night (9/12) at 8PM.

Dragons Drop Opener
Lose 3-1 to Whalers (9/5)

In what seems to a continuing pattern, the Dragons dropped the opening game of the fall season. In a game in which they could muster little offense, the blanc et rouge just seemed to be out of sync all night.

The Draons don't have much time to digest this loss as Team USA looms on the horizon Sunday night 9/7 at 9PM.

Dragons Announce Roster Moves
Last Minute Additions and Subtractions (9/4)

With the new season there always seems to come the last minute roster moves with any sports franchise. And the Dragons are no different. The Dragons announce the following moves for the upcoming season. First the subtractions, East Mafia member and winger Joe Morrissey is on sabatical to be able to hawk is his new book, And Baby Makes a Hattrick! Also leaving the team this season is winger Steve Lamonica, team officials have no comments on the absence of Lamoninca only to say that it involved a violation of the teams off-season conditioning program.

Now for the good news (sic), re-joining the Dragons this season after a tour of the Antarctic sub-continent is goalie Eric Vieweg. And back after a stint in the Rhode Island South Shore Dek League is winger Kathy Higgins! And announcing rookie Dragon and former nemesis (Team Arctic) Defenseman Jim Hannon has been lured away from 7 other teams in our division. Team officials only comment was that this was the most lucrative contract ever inked by a Dragon defenseman.

There is still one full time roster spot open, having been rejected by ubiquitous winger and hockey nomad Ray Glowicki. The search to fill that final roster spot goes on. Scouts are searching the globe over to find a player to complete the puzzle that is the Dragons hockey team.

New Schedule Released
Dragons Open Friday 9/5 8PM (8/28)

The Fall Schedule was released yesterday and the Dragons open play on Friday September 5th @8PM. There have been some changes at the rink as management has established or re-established the multi-tiered divisional format. There are now two E dek divisions E2 (which the Dragons are in) and E1 which is the higher of the two.

We once again see some old rivals once again this coming season as the Green Chiefs have re-appeared and the Whalers, and Dilligaf again grace the division. New teams or at least teams which I do not recognize are Team USA, Team EW and the Demons.

Hope to see everyone on friday night and enjoy your holiday on Monday!
