At a glance, Erika is an outgoing, bubbly person. She's always on the go and looking for her next big project or adventure. An extrovert to the extreme, Erika is a social butterfly that can be instant friends with anyone she meets. Often cheerful and good natured, its no wonder people find her approachable and easy to get along with.

As friendly as she is, once you get past the surface there are several things you'll notice about Erika. Namely that she is withdrawn and reserved. She talks a lot, but never about herself. Her social circle is wide, but you wouldn't really call them her friends. Getting beyond the barrier is difficult enough, because Erika doesn't want anyone too close. She hates feeling vulnerable and will often lash out if she feels like she's being pressed on something she doesn't want to address. Her business is her own and she'll thank you not to pry or look too deeply.

Being Digidestined is something of a dilemma for her. While the thought of adventure thrills, the commiment that comes with it chafes. She tries to remain practical and optimistic while keeping the others (and especially her digimon) at arms length.

Erika is the only child of Henry Shaw and his wife Ellen. When she was 7 years old, Ellen was killed in an accident, leaving Henry and Erika alone for the next ten years. They were two peas in a pod for a long time that Erika felt a sense of betrayal when Henry began dating a woman named Elisabeth. They married shortly after Erika turned 17 against her wishes. Along with a new stepmother, Erika gained a stepsister and a half sibling a year later. Erika and her stepmother do not get along and she moved out at 18. After couch surfing for a few months, Erika got a job bartending at a popular hotspot in Laguna Bay. She currently rents a studio apartment with her turtles.
