Kale is a computer nerd. He loves everything that deals with technology and is just about the only one among the Digidestined who is eager to solve the problem the Digital World is facing. It's just another puzzle to him, something for him to take apart and put back together. Which is kind of annoying habit of his. Sometimes his friends have to remind him that they're people, not puzzles.
He's a chill kind of guy, not really one to get worked up during a crisis, but takes things very seriously, even if he doesn't seem to be. This can be endlessly frustrating if everyone else is panicking and he just kind of shrugs his shoulders. He's got a methodical process for how he deals with problems and panicking doesn't help that process in the slightest. Despite his chill, he's got very little tact. He's not mean, exactly. But his brain-to-mouth filter is often on the fritz.
He and Terriermon bond right out of the gate and end up teasing each other almost mercilessly. If at any time the Digidestined doubt their partners were chosen specifically for them, they need only look at those two.

Kale is the only child of divorced parents, Simon and Andrea. He lived full time with his mother and spent summers with his father. Kale and Erika have known each other since they were small children and have been good friends for most of their lives. He is in his final year at Laguna Bay University and interns at Quantum Analytica. Currently, he lives in the same apartment complex as Joel. His father helps him pay for it.
