On the morning of Wednesday, August 29, the SuperStar Taurus returned to Busan and my fantastic four day voyage came to a close. While waiting for the train back to Seoul, I had a few hours to hang out and soak in as much of Busan as possible.

Busan is a fantastic coastal metropolis of 4 million residents, the second largest city in Korea. In fact, after doing considerable research in Canada, I had initially decided that Busan was the place to move to in Korea. It's situated on the coast and, as a native British Columbian who spent the first 25 years of his life on Canada's west coast, I have always wanted to return to coastal living. There's something about that distinctive ocean air, mild climate, and the freshest possible seafood that makes coastal living highly desirable.

To further describe the desirability of Busan, I'll simply quote from the Busan Metropolitan Government website, which says it best:

The natural environment of Busan is a perfect example of harmony between mountains, rivers and sea. Its geography includes a coastline with superb beaches and scenic cliffs, mountains which provide excellent hiking and extraordinary views, and hot springs scattered throughout the city. Busan enjoys four distinct seasons and a temperate climate that never gets too hot or too cold.

Busan's deep harbor and gentle tides have allowed it to grow into the largest container handling port in the country and the fourth largest in the world, with potential for even more growth.  Its natural endowments and rich history have resulted in Busan's increasing reputation as a world class city of tourism and culture.

The following series begins with some shots taken from the SuperStar Taurus, as we were returning to Busan, South Korea. Then there are a couple of pictures of Busan's Dadaepo Port area, followed by four pics taken from the train as I was beginning my last leg back to Seoul.

The photographs on this page were all taken by me. However, there is no way that they do justice to this great city. For a look at some other images of Busan, check out my Potpourri O' Pics page. You can also view several other photographers' picture galleries at the Pusan Web site.
