Super Sayians End Dragons Run
Fall 4-3 (2/22)

The Winter 2003 season ended abruptly Sunday night with a 4-3 Semi-final loss to the Super Sayians. Having a completely full bench (all 14 players in uniform) the Dragons just could not shake the Sayians. Each time the Dragons led, 1-0, 2-1 and 3-2, the Sayians countered with the tieing goal. Ultimately scoring the game winner with a mere 1:33 left in the 3rd period.

Scoring tonight for the Red and White were Doug Stewart (2g 1a) and Jim Gaglione (1g 1a). Adding helpers were Joe Morrissey (2a) and Mike Connors (1a).

On a brighter note, Dragons management received good news after the game when it was announced that goalie Eric Vieweg and his representatives agreed to a new two season contract. The new season schedules are due out on Wednesday with play to begin sometime after the 29th.

1st Place Finish
Vipers Fall 8-1 (2/17)

The Dragons finished first in the E-2 Division for the Winter season with a 8-1 win over the Vipers. This win gives the Dragons a first round bye and a game aginst the winner of the 4th and 5th place teams on Sunday 2/22 at 10PM.

Leading the scoring tonight was Jim Gaglione with the Hattrick (3g 1a). Rounding out the scoring - Steve Lamonica(1g), Dennis Connors (1g 1a), Joe Morrissey (1g), Doug Stweart (1g 2a), and Mike Connors (1g 3a). Adding helpers were Jim Hannon and Dave Carter.

As always, stellar between the pipes was Eric Vieweg stopping 22 of 23 shots.

This marks the first time the Dragons have received a bye into the playoffs and the second time they have finished first in their division. The opponent for the Dragons is yet unknown as the final standings and pairings for the first round were not set as of this writing.

Deposit Needed for Next Season!
Due By Friday 2/20 (2/15)

The deposit for next season is due by next friday 2/20. Management would appreciate it if a couple of guys could put some money down just to help alleviate the fears of rink officials!

Dragons Dump Ballbreakers
Notch 5-3 Win (2/15)

The Dragons dumped the Ballbreakers 5-3 Sunday, despite being outshot (again) 47-31. The Blanc et Rouge took a 1-0 lead less than a minute into the contest on a goal by Doug Stewart. And withstood a furious comeback attempt by their opponent but yet managed to come away with a hard fought win.

Also scoring today for the Dragons were Steve Lamonica (1g 2a), Joe Morrissey (2g 1a), and Dennis Connors (1g 1a). Adding helpers were Mike Connors, Chris Szymula, and Dave Carter.

The winning goal was netted by Morrissey on a face off from Dennis Connors.

This was a much better effort than last weeks effort against the Bears, despite the shots given up, and only proves that the Dragons have the best damn goalie around in Eric Vieweg! Stopping a herculean 44 of 47 shots on the night.

Up next is the regular season finale against the Vipers (a rescheduled game from Super Bowl Sunday) Tuesday at 7PM. With the win tonight the Dragons seem to lock up at least a 2nd place finish and a bye into the semi-finals.

The Playoff schedule is posted. Please see the schedule page for more details.

Layoff Kills Dragons
Fall 1-0 to Horny Bears (2/8)

Coming off a 19 day layoff, the Dragons layed an egg Sunday afternoon. Falling 1-0 to the Horny Bears. Despite a more than full bench, the Dragon offense could not get untracked an the defense allowed WAY too many shots on goalie Eric Vieweg. In the two game set with the Bears, the Draongs allowed 96 shots on net which included 42 shots on sunday.

Up next for the Dragons is the Ball Breakers next sunday (2/15) at 4PM followed by the Super Bowl Sunday makeup with the Vipers on Tuesday 2/27 at 7PM.

Comeback for the Ages!
Dragons Score 5 Unanswered in 3rd (1/20)

The Dragons scored a victory Tuesday night, snatching the win out of the hands of 2 Fat 2 Furious with 5 unanswered goals in the third period. Trailing 4-1 entering the final stanza Jim Gaglione got things going a minute and 5 in and the rest of the squad never let up until the final horn and a 6-4 win.

Doug Stewart notched a hattrick, and Chris Szymula and Dave Carter added single tallies in the W. Chipping in with helpers were Mike Connors (3), Joe Morrissey (2), Gaglione (2) and Kathy Higgins.

Things looked bleak early as the defense and offense were both out of sync and not giving netminder Eric Vieweg (22 saves on 26 shots) any support. But with the opposition running out of gas the Dragons got things going and came away with the win. This comeback marks one of the most thrilling regular season wins in recent memory scoring 5 goals in the 3rd period.

With the win the Dragons earn a well deserved???? 19 day rest and comeback to play the Horny Bears on Sunday Feb 8 at 4PM.

Schedule Change for 2/1 Game
No Game on Super Bowl Sunday (1/18)

Somebody at the rink must have finally noticed, OR the officials at the rink are Patriot fans because the game with the Vipers originally scheduled for Super Bowl Sunday has been moved to Tuesday February 17th at 7PM.

Dilligaf in OT
Drop Dragons 4-3 (1/18)

Coming off an 11 day layoff the Dragons lost to Dilligaf 4-3 in OT. As has been the case recently for the Draogns defense, the ball has been in their own end way too much. Causing way too many opportunities for the opposition.

Scoring tonight for the Dragons were Jim Gaglione (2 goals) and Dennis Connors. Adding helpers were Joe Morrissey, Jim Hannon (2 assists), Dave Carter and Steve Lamonica.

Up next for the Blanc et Rouge is 2F2F on Tuesday night 1/20 @ 8PM.

Dragons Drop Yellow Jackets 6-1
No Unbeatens for the Winter (1/7)

Behind a Hattrick from Steve Lamonica, the Dragons dropped the Yellow Jackets from the ranks of the unbeatens. On the heels of a 4 goal first period the Dragons bounced back from the lackadasical effort on SUnday to beat the previously unbeaten Jackets.

Making every shot count (6 goals on 16 shots) the Dragons just never let up. With almost EVERY player on the roster present, the Dragons made use of their depth and superior firepower to take the game to the Jackets. Also scoring tonight were Joe Morrissey (2 goals) and Kathy Higgins. Adding helpers were Lamonica, Doug Stewart (3), Rit Carter and the Connors boys 1 each.

As usual the goaltending of Eric Vieweg frustrated the opposition all night as we heard numerous "dammits" and "What the F#@$s". But the play of the night goes to Dennis Connors for his managing to get coincidental minors with the Jacket's top scorer all th while laughing to box, go figure!

The Dragons are not in action again until the 18th of the month against Dilligaf at 10PM.

Unbeaten No More!
5-4 Loss to Super Sayians (1/5)

The Dragons dropped their first game of the winter season 5-4 to the Super Sayians(what in the heck is a Super Sayian??). In a hectic first period the Dragons found themselves in a 3-2 hole. Tied 3-3 after 2, things were looking better as the Blanc et Rouge was getting more pressure on the ball.

But as happened in the first they never checked up defensively and gave up a breakaway a minut into the 3rd and then never cleared the bodies out of the crease to allow the ultimate game winner in.

Scoring for the Dragons were Steve Lamonica, Mike Connors, Jim Gaglione and Doug Stewart. Adding helpers were Joe Morrissey (2), Stewart and Gaglione. In net, Eric Vieweg stopped 20 f0 25 shots but had to face too many 4, 5 and 6 shot flurries as the Dragons did not body up in the crease.

The Dragons are next in action on Wednesday 1/7 at 7PM against the Division Leading Yellow Jackets.

Dragons Claw Back to Win
5-4 Comeback Victory (12/28)

The Dragons remained unbeaten in the Winter season with a 5-4 comeback victory over the Ball Breakers sunday night. Trailing 2-0 after a period, the Blanc et Rouge fought back to take the lead with 7:21 left in the third period. After the Ballbreakers tied it at 3 the Dragonsd scored twice and then held on for the win.

Leading the way with two goals was Steve Lamonica. Other scorers were Joe Morrissey (1g 1a), Doug Stewart (1g 1a) and Jim Gaglone (1g 2a). Adding helpers were Kathy Higgins, Rit Carter, Mike Connors, and Mike U. Despite the off night goalie Eric Vieweg stopped 27 of 31 shots to gain the victory.

Up next for the Dragons is Super Sayians next Sunday at 4PM. Have a safe and Happy New Year everyone!

Dragons Defeat Horny Bears
6-2 Win For Dragons (12/22)

The Dragons remained unbeaten (3-0-1) in the Winter season with a 6-2 win over the Horny Bears. The Dragons made the most of their 22 shots on net and even scored on one of the Weirdest events seen EVER! An empty net penalty shot! Well as we came to find out, it was ruled on incorectly as a goal should have been awarded instead of a penalty shot. The team was worrid when it appeared that the shooter, Jim Gaglione actually fanned on the shot but it still managed to go in.

Leading the way for the Dragons was again net minder Eric Vieweg withstanding a barrage not seen since The Battle of London, stopping 50 of an amazing 52 shots on the night. Scoring for the Dragons were Mike Connors (1g 1a), Doug Stewart (2g), Gaglione (2g), and Steve Lamonica (1g). Adding lone helpers last night were Dave Carter and Kathy Higgins.

Up next for the Dragons is the Ballbreakers next sunday 12/28 at 10PM.

Snowstorm Forfeit
Vipers Forfeit (12/14)

The Vipers forfeited to the Dragons on Sunday afternoon. Management did try to get a hold of some players to avoid their traveling, but alas most personel records were burned in the fire at team offices prior to this season.

Up next for the Blanc et Rouge is the Horny Bears next sunday (12/21) at 10PM.

Congrats to EH Blades
Garner 8th Championship! (12/12)

East Hartford BladesThe Dragons management would like to congratulate the East Hartford Blades and its Captain Dennis Connors on winning their 8th Championship on Friday night. Way to go Blades! Click the logo on the left to head over to the Blades website.

2F2F Tie Dragons
1-1 OT Game (12/8)

The 2Fat 2Furious team tied the Dragons (Okay so maybe it was the other way around) Sunday afternoon. Trailing 1-0 in the second period the Dragons secret weapon Mike Ugliorolo struck with 1:13 left in the second scoring off a face from Rit Carter.

Eric Vieweg once again snatched victory from the jaws of defeat with some stellar saves (37 on 38 shots). And Dennis Connors just missed ending the game in late rin the third with a tip that went just a skosh high.

The Dragons are up again next sunday December 14th at 4PM.

Dragons Win Opener
2-0 Shutout over Dilligaf (11/27)

The Dragons won the opening game of the winter season on 11/27 with a 2-0 shutout over Dilligaf. The wire report of this game was lost in transmission and details are sketchy.

Eric Vieweg notched the shutout in net stopping all 28 shots he faced. And it is believed that the scoring in the game was doen by Dennis Connors and Doug Stewart.

Up next is 2Fat2Furious Sunday 12/7 at 4PM.

Greenchiefs Shutout Dragons
2-0 Loss Ends Season (11/20)

The Dragons Fall 2003 season ended last night with a 2-0 loss to the Greenchiefs. Just never getting their offense untracked the Dragons gave up 1 goal in each of the first and third periods.

Again keeping the Dragons in it was netminder par excellance Eric Vieweg, making an "unofficial" 23 saves on 25 shots. Asked later what it felt lke to only see 25 shots the goaltender answered "in which period?"

Well the Dragons Fall season may be over but another is just around the corner, the Dragons open next Tuesday at 8PM.

As the new season opens we will see the entire East Hartford Mafia back in full swing as center/winger Joe Morissey returns to the floor and also rumored to be returning is the mysterious winger Steve Lamonica. Lamonica returns from the a season in hell with a rather poorly constructed expansion team.

Win Caps Season
Head into Playoffs on High Note (11/15)

The Dragons knocked off Team EW Friday night 3-2 to cap a 7-4-1 season and head into the playoffs next Wednesday on a high note. With almost a full squad the Dragons feel behind 1-0 early but then scored two third period goals to take the 3-2 victory.

Of note was the two assists by center and East Hartford Mafia member Mike Connors. These two helpers enabled the legendary center to take the Assist Trophy this season with 16. Scoring tonight wasDoug Stewart, back after successful ankle transplant surgery and Rit Carter (2). Adding a helper was Captain Dave Carter.

As usual the goaltending of Eric Vieweg was stellar and missed out on the goalie trophy by 2 saves. Up next for the Blanc et Rouge is GREENCHIEFS on wednesday night (11/19) at 8PM. As reported earlier, the Whalers were to be the Dragons opponent until a late season loss to Greenchiefs knocked them into second place.

Special thanks to Dennis C.

For the impetus to create a Dragons web page. And for more than just a little of the HTML!
