Next Game
Lack of players causes forfeit (5/12)

For those not in attendance at the Storm game, we cannot field a team due to prior the commitments of a majority of the squad. And hence we will be forfeiting the final game of the season.

Watch this site for info on next session. If there is a conflict for next session or you are not sure of your status please let me know ASAP, thanks.

PERFECTION?????
5-3 Loss to Storm Caps Season (5/12)

The Storm beat the Dragons Tuesday night 5-3 to cap a perfect?? season for the Dragons (0-12). This coupled with the impending 1-0 defeat next Tuesday will end the season for the Dragons at 0-12.

Due to the lack of players for next week we will be forfeiting to the Fishsticks, so there is no need for attendance next week. Watch this site for info on next season.

Scoring tonight for the Blanc et Rouge were Doug Stewart (2g) and Jim Gaglione (1g). Adding the only helper for the night was Joe Morrissey. Netminder Eric Vieweg faced a mere 42 shots on net, turning back 37 of them.

Another Game, another....
8-1 Loss Latest in String (5/5)

The Apocalypse was upon us last night! The Team not the event. In the latest Dragons game, the Apocalypse handed the Blanc et Rouge their 10th straight defeat. Jim Gaglione tallied the only Dragon goal with an assist from Doug Stewart.

Being outshot 46-13 on the night, it was all Goalie Eric Vieweg could do to keep it close. The shots against have reached epic proportions (433)! If this season were a movie it would be bigger than Ben hur and The Ten Commandments combined!

Up next for the Dragons is the Storm 5/11 at 10PM.

New Season Registration Started
Who's Back??? (4/29)

PISA announced recently that registration for next season has started. The Dragons are returning, in case anyone had ANY doubts. What I'm loking for is word that we have players NOT returning for next season. I would like to know ASAP of your intention to NOT return so that I can determine if we need to find a replacement.

Despite the dismal season we are currently experiencing, I fully intend to return the franchise to its former glory if that means signing Brett Hull, Joe Thornton and Mark Messier. (Is that spoken like a true GM or What??)

I will start a roster next tuesday before the game so if you know then your status just let me know.

Greenchiefs Knock Down Dragons
8-4 Loss on Tuesday (4/20)

The Greenchiefs handed the Dragons their 9th consecutive loss Tuesday as they won 8-4. Despite the largest offensive outburst this season, the Dragons just could not muster enough defense against the Greenchiefs.

But the mood on the bench remains upbeat as Joe Morrissey, Steve Lamonica and Dennis Connors all made an appearance. That coupled with a rousing sing along led by Rit Carter kept spirits high during this most frustrating season.

Scoring tonight for the Blanc et Rouge were Joe Morrissey (Hattrick - 3g 1a), and Doug Stewart (1g 1a). Adding helpers were Jim gaglione and Rit Carter.

Up next for the Dragons is the Apocalypse (The Team, not the event!), Tuesday 5/4 at 9PM.

Streak Continues, Now at 8
5-0 Loss to Tomahawks (4/20)

The struggles for the Dragons continued Tuesday night with a 5-0 loss to the Tomahawks. Being outshot 56-30, goaltender Eric Vieweg held his ground quite admirably, stopping 51 of said 56 blasts on him.

The first period and the third period were scoreless but the middle frame proved to be the Dragons doom, allowing 5 unanswered goals. the Dragons were not without their chances as it seemed they spent quite a lot of time in the oppositions end in the first period. But to no avail they just could not finish on this night. The six skaters which showed up battled the entire game but were just no match for the fresher legs on the other side of the dek.

Up next for the Dragons is Greenchiefs next tuesday night (4/27) at 10PM.

Close Game Goes Storm's Way
3-1 Loss Marks 7th Straight (4/5)

The Dragons dropped a close game to the Storm Monday night 3-1. It was close all night with the undermanned Dragons keeping the defense strong until the last few minutes when the Storm added an insurance tally.

Keeping the Dragons close was net minder Eric Vieweg stopping 38 of 41 shots. It was almost a vacation for Vieweg as he's seen more than 50 shots per game in the rpior two contests.

Scoring in a most unique way was Doug Stewart, after taking a shot off the hip from defenseman Dave Carter, Stewart controlled the ball and put in on net and slipped it by the Storm's netminder.

In other Dragons' news, it was overheard in the stands recently that the fans and players may take to wearing New Orleans Saint fans costumes soon. Film at 11.

Up next for the Blanc et Rouge is the Tomahawks on Tuesday April 20th at 9PM.

Apocalypse Hands Dragons 6th Stright Loss
9-2 Deficit (3/31)

With back-to-back games this week the Dragons had a rough go of it. Losing 10-2 to the Fishsticks on Monday they had to come right back and face the division leading Apocalypse Tuesday, suffering a 9-2 setback. On the bright side it was only a 4-2 game after two periods but the tiring defense and the speed of the other team was too much to overcome on this night.

Scoring for the Dragons tonight were Jim Gaglione and Chris Szymula. Adding helpers were Rit Carter, Mike Connors and Dennis Connors.

Up next for the Dragons is the Storm next Monday 4/5 at 8PM.

Fishsticks Pound Dragons
10-2 Lopsided Loss (3/30)

As the season from heck continues, the Dragons were pounded by the relentless Fishsticks last night. The Dragons managed to keep it close for a time only being don 2-0 after one period, and 5-1 after two, the wheels came off in the third as the relentless attacking of the opposition just wore out the Blanc et Rouge. Scorers tonight were Rit Carter and Jim Gaglione. Adding helpers were Joe Morrissey and Mike Connors.

The Dragons come right back into the fray as the face Apocalypse tonight at 10PM.

Struggles Continue for Dragons
Lose 4-3 in Latest Contest (3/23)

The struggles for the Dragons continued in the D Division in their latest game against the Greenchiefs on Monday night. With the 4-3 loss to the men in green the spring record dropped to 0-4. After dropping the two prior games 6-0 and 6-1, this game was a breath of fresh air as the Dragons managed to actually score more goals in one game than they had scored all season.

In a game in which they had every opportunity to come away with a win, the Blanc et Rouge let this one slip away, leading 3-2 with less than 3minutes left the Dragons gave up the tying and winning goals in less than a minute.

Scoring for the Dragons was Doug Stewart (2g) and Dennis Connors. Adding helpers were Joe Morrissey, Kathy Higgins and Steve Lamonica.

Up next for the squad is the Fishsticks, a 6-0 winner over the Dragons in their last meeting, on Monday 3/29 at 8PM and then against Apocalypse, currently sporting a 3-0 record, on Tuesday March 30th at 10PM.

A New Season, The Usual Start
3-1 Loss to the Storm (3/2)

The opening of new season should always bring expectation, and exhiliration. Not a loss. Well the Dragons started the latest campaign with just that, a 3-1 loss to the Storm. Playong agianst a couple old Dragons - Mick Pechenuk and Jim Marks - the Dragons got off on the wrong foot Tuesdya night.

Despite a shoddy effort by the zebras (not seeing one Dragon tally at all), the Dragons managed to hang in there most of the night. Only allowing 23 shots which is quite the defensive effort given the barrages they've given up in the past on net minder Eric Vieweg. He musty thought he was still on vacation based on the stat sheet.

Netting the only goal on the night was Joe Morrissey and adding the helper was fellow East Hartford MAfia member Dennis Connors. The Dragons played well and had their chances during the contest. Up next for the Dragons is the Fishsticks on the 8th.

Roster Moves for Spring Season
Comings and Goings for E-1 Division (3/1)

The Dragons announced their roster for the upcoming Spring 04 season. A number of contentious negotiations took place with the free agents this past off-season. The major coup for the Red and White was the inking of netminder Eric Vieweg for the next two seasons. Along with that the Dragons just inked over the weekend scrappy forward Kathleen Higgins, she was rumoured to be signing with a number of different clubs during the off-season but management worked out a last minute deal to bring her back into the fold. Had the club lost either of those players the depleted Dragons minor league system would have been hard pressed to find suitable replacements, the only forward the Dragons have anywhere near ready to move up is second-generation Dragon Adam Carter, but his lack of size and youth could have played as a major hindrance on the dek.

Along with these announced signings, the Dragons also announced the loss of defenseman Mick Pechenuk. Supposedly Pechenuk was to undergo off season knee replacement surgery (see Cal-Tech's Bionics Lab web page), but the Storm hockey club also owned the E-1 rights to the stalwart blue-liner. Regardless of the reason for the absence of Pechenuk, he will not be present on the bench either in civies or his Dragon White and Red this season.

As the season opens this Tuesday evening at the PISA rink, the Dragons appear to fighting an up-hill battle in the E-1 division.

Super Sayians End Dragons Run
Fall 4-3 (2/22)

The Winter 2003 season ended abruptly Sunday night with a 4-3 Semi-final loss to the Super Sayians. Having a completely full bench (all 14 players in uniform) the Dragons just could not shake the Sayians. Each time the Dragons led, 1-0, 2-1 and 3-2, the Sayians countered with the tieing goal. Ultimately scoring the game winner with a mere 1:33 left in the 3rd period.

Scoring tonight for the Red and White were Doug Stewart (2g 1a) and Jim Gaglione (1g 1a). Adding helpers were Joe Morrissey (2a) and Mike Connors (1a).

On a brighter note, Dragons management received good news after the game when it was announced that goalie Eric Vieweg and his representatives agreed to a new two season contract. The new season schedules are due out on Wednesday with play to begin sometime after the 29th.

1st Place Finish
Vipers Fall 8-1 (2/17)

The Dragons finished first in the E-2 Division for the Winter season with a 8-1 win over the Vipers. This win gives the Dragons a first round bye and a game aginst the winner of the 4th and 5th place teams on Sunday 2/22 at 10PM.

Leading the scoring tonight was Jim Gaglione with the Hattrick (3g 1a). Rounding out the scoring - Steve Lamonica(1g), Dennis Connors (1g 1a), Joe Morrissey (1g), Doug Stweart (1g 2a), and Mike Connors (1g 3a). Adding helpers were Jim Hannon and Dave Carter.

As always, stellar between the pipes was Eric Vieweg stopping 22 of 23 shots.

This marks the first time the Dragons have received a bye into the playoffs and the second time they have finished first in their division. The opponent for the Dragons is yet unknown as the final standings and pairings for the first round were not set as of this writing.

Deposit Needed for Next Season!
Due By Friday 2/20 (2/15)

The deposit for next season is due by next friday 2/20. Management would appreciate it if a couple of guys could put some money down just to help alleviate the fears of rink officials!

Special thanks to Dennis C.

For the impetus to create a Dragons web page. And for more than just a little of the HTML!
