1 lb. ground beef 1 small onion, diced (optional) 1/4 cup green pepper, diced (optional) 1 Tbl. onion powder/salt 1 Tbl. garlic powder/salt 1/2 tsp. black pepper 1 egg 1 pkg. of saltines, crushed (1 of the 4 that come in a box) 1 small can of tomato sauce Preparation: Mix all ingredients and 1/2 can of tomato sauce (reserve 1/2 can tomato sauce). Put meat in a 8x8 pan (a loaf pan works good, too). Top with the remaining tomato sauce. Bake, uncovered, at 400 degrees for 35-45 minutes, until the loaf pulls away from the sides of the pan and meat is very firm. Goes good with a baked potato and green salad. Serves 4 to 6 |
