Yellowjackets Crowned
Dragons Drop 3-0 Decision (9/2)

The Dragons season was completed last night when the Yellowjackets took a 3-0 win and the E Divsion crown. The Dragons lost their first final series in recent memory and were swept out of the series for the first time.

Goalie Eric Vieweg playing in what was the last game of his illustrious career, played brilliantly but could not manage to carry the Dragons with him on this evening. Eric, we wish you well! You will be missed!

The next step for the Dragons is next season, and finding a new goalie. Front Office personnel are hoping to contact former goalie jim Marks and garner his services but no word has come from management regarding this as yet.

The schedules for next season are due out on Wednesday Sept. 8th, stay tuned for that and more from the Dragons.

Dragons Facing Elimination
Lose 4-3 to Yellowjackets (8/30)

The first game of the finals went to the Yellowjackets last night. Depsite leading 2-0 going into the second period the Dragons could not hold on and dropped a 4-3 decision. Ray Glowicki got things going with a goal at the 8:12 mark, followed by a tally by Jim Gaglione.

But the Yellowjackets answered with three goals in the second to take a 3-2 lead until Gaglione tied at the 5:17 mark. The Jackets took the lead in the 3rd period at the 7:11 mark and the Dragons just could not find the net again despite some very good looks a the net. Including a final change at the 9:59 mark that just went high by Glowicki.

Netminder Eric Vieweg played his usual game (stood on his head) stopping 36 of 40 shots.

Game 2 is slated for Wednesday 9/1 at 10PM, and game 3 is set for 9/10 at 8PM.

Dragons Make Finals!
Knock Off High Spirit Buzzards (8/28)

The Dragons made to the E Division finals saturday night with a 5-4 win over the Buzzards. Behind a hattrick from Jay Myers and two goals from Jim Gaglione, the Dragons are playing in their first final series in 8 seasons.

This was a nail biter the whole way as the Blanc et Rouge came back from 2 goals down in the third period to nail down the win. If you can believe the score sheet netminder Eric Vieweg, playing in his final season, stopped 15 of 19 shots! The Dragons took a 1-0 lead into the second period but a late flurry of goals in the second (all within the final 2:21 of the period) saw the Buzzards leading 3-2 entering the third period. The Buzzards scored first in the third (about 2 minutes in) but 2 goals from Myers had the teams evened up at the 7:30 mark. The teams went back and forth over the next 6:45 until Myers found Gaglione all alone in front of the net and the rest is history.

Adding helpers tonight were Myers (3g 1a), Doug Stewart (1a) and Kathy Higgins (1a).

Up next for the Dragons is the Yellowjackets in a best two of three series starting Sunday 8/29 at 8pm.

Vieweg Garners Honors!
Top Goalie in Final Season (8/24)

Netminder Eric Vieweg should be named the E Division goalie for the summer season later this week. The unofficial results have him with a save percentage of 89.19598 to the Tsunami goalie's 89.000.

Vieweg took home the honor when No Army forfeited their game to Tsunami and the Yellowjackets scored twice on 25 shots on Tuesday. This left the Tsunami goalie with 267 saves on 300 shots.

Congratulations to Mr. Vieweg and good luck to him as he enters his final playoff series.

Comeback Falls Short
YellowJackets Score Winner with :24 Left (8/4)

The Yellowjackets ended a valiant comeback bid by the Dragons last night scoring the winning goal with a mere 24 seconds left in the third period. Down 4-1 after the first the teams traded goals in the second, but then in the third period despite only one sub the Dragons began to chip away. Scoring their third goal of the period and tying the game with just 1:18 left, things were looking up but the late goal by the Yellowjackets ended any hope of a win.

Scoring for the Dragons were Ray Glowicki (Hattrick), and Jim Gaglione (2g). Adding helpers were Rit Carter (3), and Kathy Higgins and Dave Carter with one apiece. Eric Vieweg stopped 32 of 38 shots on the night.

Yellowjackets Sting Dragons
3-2 Loss Continues Winless Streak (7/31)

The Yellowjackets beat the Dragons 3-2 Friday night. Despite a strong effort from the squad, the outcome was the same as the prior 5 nights - no W. Signs are pinting in the right direction for the team but they just have a case of the 2-goal blues (can't seems to score more than two goals a night).

Scoring for the Dragons were Mike Connors, and Jay Myers. Adding helpers were Jim Gaglione, Doug Stewart, and Dave Carter. Being his usual self in net was Eric Vieweg, stopping 30 of 33 shots.

Up next is the Jackets again on Tuesday night (8/3) at 10PM.

Winless Streak at 5
Lose 6-2 to High Spirit Buzzards (7/28)

With the loss last night to the Buzzards (6-2), the Dragons winless streak has now reached 5 games. The effort was there against the division leaders, the ball could just not find the net for the Dragons. Going down 3-0 after one period and 4-0 after 2, the Dragons managed to cut the deficit to 4-2 with 6 minutes left, but could not dent the net again.

Weekend Happenings for the Dragons
Loss and Tie with Tsunami (7/26)

The Dragons extended their losing streak to 3 on friday and ended? it on Sunday with a loss and a tie to Tsunami. A 5-2 loss on friday and a 2-2 tie on Sunday capped the wekend series between these two long rivals.

Playing poorly on friday night and without a couple of key components, the Dragons could not manage to dent the net enough to come away with a win. On Sunday, the Dragons took a 2-0 lead into the third and could not manage to hold on. The overtime period had everything but a goal in it as action end to end.

Stats are to follow as the AP feed was late over the wire. Of note over the weekend, it looks like Defensemen Dave Spencer might have yet another broken toe MRI results have not been released by team officials.

Up next for the Dragons is the undefeated High Spirit Buzzards on Tuesday 7/27 at 8PM.

With Loss, Dragons at .500
Tough Stretch Looming (7/19)

Showing his usual toughness was netminder Eric Vieweg stopping his usual multitude of shots and breaking his thumb in the process.

The Dragons begin a tough stretch of the schedule this friday as they play 4 games in a 7 day stretch. Up first is Tsunami on friday July 23rd.

Dragons Announce Summer Roster Changes
Drops and Adds for the Summer (6/28)

Team officials today released to the public the final roster names for the summer season. This roster seems to have the most changes the Dragons have seen in many a season.

Absent after a long run with the red and white are winger Steve Lamonica, and center/winger Joe Morrissey. Word has it that both had contractual arrangements with teams in Latvia and Mesopitamia which precluded them from taking the deck this season. We wish them well and hope to see them back in the Red and White once again in the future.

But in their absence management was able to re-acquire the contract of defenseman Mick Pechenuk, back after a long rehab with a case of water on the knee. Also back after long absence is young Raymond Glowicki, his contract became available after he was declared a free agent by rink and league officials after he completed his required community service for an off-deck incident involving an unidentifed lady friend, a Ct Transit bus and a can of cheese whiz (team officials chose to ignore this incident and would would like nothing better than to put this incident behind young Raymond) - welcome back young Raymond! Last and surely not least team management would like to welcome aboard the team's super sub - Jay M-Y-E-R-S! As previously written up in this column, Jay has already made an impact on the team - Welcome aboard Jay!

Shorthanded Dragons Fall to YellowJackets
One Sub Leads to 6-2 Loss (6/28)

The Dragons dropped their firrst game of the Summer season, a 6-2 loss to the YellowJackets. Playing with only one sub, and missing several key members of the lineup the Dragons were not able to match up properly with the opposition.

Scoring for the Dragons was Rit Carter (2g) with helpers from Mike Connors (2a), and Doug Stewart (1a). Up next for the Blanc et Rouge is High Spirit Buzzards on Friday July 16th at 8PM.

Dragon Accomplishments!
Century Mark for Stewart! (6/20)

On Sunday, against No Army, Doug Stewart reached a career milestone! Becoming only the second Dragon to ever reach the 100 goal plateau! Congratulations Doug!

Dragons Sweep Weekend!
Take Down Tsunami and No Army (6/20)

The Dragons opened the Summer session with 2 wins and ended a 13 game losing streak. With a new face - Jay Myers - on the squad, the team swept two games from Tsunami and No Army, 5-1 and 3-2. Captain Dave Carter credits the effort of Super Scout Eric Vieweg with finding Myers who has already made a difference and sparked the offense to heights it did not reach in the spring season.

On Friday against Tsunami, Myers led the scoring with 2 goals and an assist while Doug Stewart chipped in with 2 goals as well. Mike Connors had a goal and 2 helpers. Jim Gaglione had 3 assists and Dave Spencer - back after a long rehab assignment in Juno, Alaska - had a helper in his first game back.

On Sunday vs No Army, Myers again made his presnece known with a goal and 2 assists. Doug Stewart added a tally, and Mick Pechenuk chimed in, himself back after a season hiatus, with a goal and an assist. Rit Carter added two helpers in the 3-2 win over No Army.

Up next for the Dragons is the Yellow Jackets on Friday June 25 at 9PM.
