The first game of the Winter 2004 campaign is set for Tuesday 12/14 at 6PM vs No Army. It appears as if we have been moved down a division at this time. Further details on the schedule will be posted over the weekend.

Thanks to Jim G #5 for posting the details on the first game on our message board!

Deposit Due Friday
Cutoff Date for Rosters 13/2 (11/30)

Our deposit is due by friday for the Winter season. If you can between now and then put something down to help hold our spot (in which division, I just don't know), management would appreciate it.

Dragons Close Out Fall Season
Drop 6-1 Decision (11/17)

The Dragons closed out the Fall 2004 season with a 6-1 loss to the High Spirit Buzzards. Playing with only 1 sub, the outcome was never in doubt as the speedier foe managed to tally 3 times in the first period, with two of those coming in the closing minute.

Tallying the only goal of the night was Dave Carter from Mike Connors. Its hard to imagine a tougher season for the Blanc et Rouge as they finish the campaign at 3-8. In the final game net minder Jim Marks faced 46 shots and stopped 40 of them.

As for the plans for next season, well the schedule is due out on December 8th and the new season for the rink starts on December 11th. I need all returning players to pick up a schedule as the captain and his assistant will be on a southern recruiting trip to Fla. for that week between the 4th and 11th. Let's hope that the Dragons are not playing on the 11th.

As to the season in review, well no many highlights - we can say we managed two shutouts, and had a forfeit win and forfeit loss, and there was a lively game of Name the Dragon, and of course who could ever forget the Skills Cometition. Let's gear up for next season.

Dragons Drop One to Polar Bears
Drop 6-3 Decision (11/17)

The Draogns dropped to 3-8 on the seaosn after a 6-3 loss to the Polar Bears. Despite only giving up '27' shots?? on netminder Eric Vieweg, they could not muster enough offense to overcome the opposition.

Scoring for the Dragons were Mr. Instant Offense Chris Szymula (2g 1a), and Jim Gaglione. Adding helpers were Szymula, Rit Cater and Mike Connors.

The Dragons close out the current campaign on Wednesday 11/17 at 9PM against the Buzzards.

Dragons Return with a Win
Notch Second Shutout of Season (11/3)

The Dragons notched their second shutout of the season with a 3-0 whitewashing of the 2Fat2Furious team. After taking the forfeit loss last week this was a nice rebound game for the Dragons.

The defense was led by Eric Vieweg, who has more lives than your average cat, Dave Spencer and Mike Ugliorolo. Stopping all 23 shots - yes you read it right, only 23 shots - was goalie Jim Marks. And leading the scoring tonight was Chris Szymula with 2 goals. Also tallying was Jim Gaglione. Adding helpers were rit Carter, Gaglione and Kathy Higgins.

Up next for the Dragons is Yellowjackets at 10Pm next wednesday 11/10.

Buzzards Bite Dragons
Tack 9-1 Loss on Blanc et Rouge (10/14)

The Buzzards put a hurtin on the Dragons last night with a 9-1 win over the hometown team. Chris Szymula scored the only goal for the Dragons, in action for the first time since their loss to the Yellowjackets on 10/6.

Adding helpers were Miek Connors and Kathy Higgins.

Meanwhile team management has hinted there may be changes looming to the roster for next season given the lack of turnout lately. Adding to the chaos was the injury to former net minder Eric Vieweg, early prognosis semeed to indicate simply a pulled hammy, but now that he's had time to ice the leg it may indicate an injury to the surgically repaired knee Vieweg suffered a few seasons back. Eric once again will be missed on the deck. This time it could be for good, not the way we wanted to see him leave.

Also of note, the Dragons did get their second win of the season with a hard fought forfeit win over the Tsunami on saturday 10/9. The most surprising thing was not the forsfeit by the opponent but the almost double forfeit by the Dragon squad. To fill the hour, those present were entertained by a quick skills competition and "Name That Dragon" contest.

Up next for the Dragons is the Polar Bears next wednesday 10/20 at 7PM.

New PISA Website
Rink is Back Online (9/30)

PISA, the home for Dragons hockey, is back online. There is a link to it on the Links page on this site and is located at Plainville Indoor Sports Arena.

Dragons Notch First W
Marks Tosses Shutout (9/30)

The Dragons notched their first win of the Fall season last evening with a 3-0 win over 2Fat 2Furious. Despite several key members of the squad missing for one reason or another, the Dragons got solid performances from most everybody present and a stellar game from netminder Jim Marks (19 saves). With special note to forward (huh??) Dave Spencer who had a most remarkable ordinary game.

While this page usually goes out of its way to not mention the opposition, we must say that the Furious goalie (former Dragon Jay Myers) was the lone bright spot for them (stopping 25 of 28 shots). Enough about that!

Scoring last night for the Red and White were Jim Gaglione, Mike Connors and Mick Pechenuk. Adding the only helpers on the night was Dave Spencer??? (2a)

And making his comeback from his third retirement was goalie turned defenseman (yup you guessed it... Drum roll if you please) Eric Vieweg. He comes out of retirement to play part time and made his presence known on D. He's now made more comebacks from retirement than Micheal Jordan!

Up next for the Dragons is the Yellowjackets on Wed October 6 at 7PM.

Roster Changes for the Fall Season
Some Old Friends Come Aboard (9/16)

Team management announced late last night the roster changes for the Fall Season. It seems that there was one surprise tho and an unexpected one at that. Forward Doug Stewart is unavailable this season due to a contract squabble with the club and his literary Agent. This was a huge blow to the squad and he will be missed and hope that all parties can work things out for next season.

Enough bad news tho, as announced earlier, goalie Jim MArks is back! Replacing the retired Eric Vieweg in net. Also back after a lost season - Winger Steve Lamonica. And also back after a couple of seasons off - is East Hartford Mafia member Joe Morrissey.

All the usual cast of characters are back once again to due battle with the best that that the E Division has to offer this fall, tickets are going fast, buy early and buy often.

Dragons Drop Opener
Polar Bears Hold On 4-3 (9/16)

The Dragons dropped the opener of the Fall Season 4-3 to the Polar Bears. In what has become a Dragon tradition (lost 12 of the last 16 season openers), the Dragons almost managed to pull this one out. Trailing 4-0 late in the second period, Mick Pechenuk got things going with a long shot from his own blue line. Joe Morrissey added another with under a minute to play in the 2nd to make it 4-2 after two. And within a minute of starting the third period it was 4-3 after Pechenuk scored his second? (or was it his third) of the night to make it 4-3. Despite some good chances int he third the tying goal was not to be found.

Leading the scoring was Pechenuk (2g) and Morrissey (1g). Adding helpers were Mike Ugliorolo and Goalie Jim Marks. Marks also stopped 27 of 31 shots.

Up next is old friend Tsunami on Wednesday 9/22 at 7PM.

HE'S BAAACK!
Goalie Worries Resolved (9/8)

No Eric Vieweg did not un-retire! But the Dragons met with representatives of netminder Jim Marks this week and were able to secure the services of the former Dragon goalie. This shores up the defensive end of the floor with a familiar face for Dragon fans,

New Schedule Released
Familiar Faces in the Same Places! (9/8)

The Fall 2004 Schedule was released today and there are a number of familiar faces still in the same division (E Division again). The first game is slated for Wednesday September 15th at 9PM against what appears to be a new face in a team called the Polar Bears.

We also see some old names in the division - Yellowjackets are back, with Tsunami and 2Fat2Furious. But also back in the division which kinda goes against tradition at the rink - High Spirit Buzzards have returned to the E Division despite finishing first last season, hmmmm what's up with that???

Yellowjackets Crowned
Dragons Drop 3-0 Decision (9/2)

The Dragons season was completed last night when the Yellowjackets took a 3-0 win and the E Divsion crown. The Dragons lost their first final series in recent memory and were swept out of the series for the first time.

Goalie Eric Vieweg playing in what was the last game of his illustrious career, played brilliantly but could not manage to carry the Dragons with him on this evening. Eric, we wish you well! You will be missed!

The next step for the Dragons is next season, and finding a new goalie. Front Office personnel are hoping to contact former goalie Jim Marks and garner his services but no word has come from management regarding this as yet.

The schedules for next season are due out on Wednesday Sept. 8th, stay tuned for that and more from the Dragons.

Dragons Facing Elimination
Lose 4-3 to Yellowjackets (8/30)

The first game of the finals went to the Yellowjackets last night. Depsite leading 2-0 going into the second period the Dragons could not hold on and dropped a 4-3 decision. Ray Glowicki got things going with a goal at the 8:12 mark, followed by a tally by Jim Gaglione.

But the Yellowjackets answered with three goals in the second to take a 3-2 lead until Gaglione tied at the 5:17 mark. The Jackets took the lead in the 3rd period at the 7:11 mark and the Dragons just could not find the net again despite some very good looks a the net. Including a final change at the 9:59 mark that just went high by Glowicki.

Netminder Eric Vieweg played his usual game (stood on his head) stopping 36 of 40 shots.

Game 2 is slated for Wednesday 9/1 at 10PM, and game 3 is set for 9/10 at 8PM.

Dragons Make Finals!
Knock Off High Spirit Buzzards (8/28)

The Dragons made to the E Division finals saturday night with a 5-4 win over the Buzzards. Behind a hattrick from Jay Myers and two goals from Jim Gaglione, the Dragons are playing in their first final series in 8 seasons.

This was a nail biter the whole way as the Blanc et Rouge came back from 2 goals down in the third period to nail down the win. If you can believe the score sheet netminder Eric Vieweg, playing in his final season, stopped 15 of 19 shots! The Dragons took a 1-0 lead into the second period but a late flurry of goals in the second (all within the final 2:21 of the period) saw the Buzzards leading 3-2 entering the third period. The Buzzards scored first in the third (about 2 minutes in) but 2 goals from Myers had the teams evened up at the 7:30 mark. The teams went back and forth over the next 6:45 until Myers found Gaglione all alone in front of the net and the rest is history.

Adding helpers tonight were Myers (3g 1a), Doug Stewart (1a) and Kathy Higgins (1a).

Up next for the Dragons is the Yellowjackets in a best two of three series starting Sunday 8/29 at 8pm.

Vieweg Garners Honors!
Top Goalie in Final Season (8/24)

Netminder Eric Vieweg should be named the E Division goalie for the summer season later this week. The unofficial results have him with a save percentage of 89.19598 to the Tsunami goalie's 89.000.

Vieweg took home the honor when No Army forfeited their game to Tsunami and the Yellowjackets scored twice on 25 shots on Tuesday. This left the Tsunami goalie with 267 saves on 300 shots.

Congratulations to Mr. Vieweg and good luck to him as he enters his final playoff series.

Playoffs Start Satruday 8/28
Dragons to Play the Buzzards (8/24)

The Dragons will open the playoffs on saturday 8/28 at 9pm vs the High Spirit Buzzards. By virtue of the Tsunami wins over No Army and Yellowjackets to close out the regular season.

Special thanks to Dennis C.

For the impetus to create a Dragons web page. And for more than just a little of the HTML!
