New Schedules Due Out 3/1
Season Could Start as Early as March 7th (2/24)

The schedules for the Spring season are due out on Wednesday March 1st. Stay tuned for the official announcement on or near that date. The rink officials have informed the Dragons management that they will be remaining in the F Division for the Spring.

The team is making some roster changes but names are not being announced until the roster is finalized. Stay tuned for more.

Season Ends with Loss to Dogs
Game Long Power Play for the Big Dogs (2/24)

The Dragons winter season ended last night with a 4-2 loss to the Big Dogs. With regular goalie Eric Vieweg back in net, the Dragons skaters were limited to Dave Shelto, Dave Spencer, Dave Carter and Mike Connors. Innocent bystanders at rinkside felt that this could have gotten out of hand given the previous night's performance against Dilligaf.

But that was not to be as the four guys on the floor put up quite a fight as the score was 0-0 after one period. but in the second period the Dogs tallied once on Vieweg and so did the Dragons! A goal by Carter cut the lead in half and the Draogns only trailed by 1 after 2 periods. With the Dragon play going in spurts the guys really held thier own until a pair of goals byt the Dogs in a 50 second timeframe midway thru the third period. the blanc et rouge had no quit as Shelto tallied a goal with just about 3 minutes left. With no gas in the tank to close the gap further the ended at 4-2. This ends the winter season for the Dragons at 3-8-1 and no playoff appearance, with a number of changes coming for the spring 06 season but some old faces are returning and management are holding off on official announcements until contracts are actually signed and lockers are opened.

Vieweg stopped 22 of 26 official shots but it seemed like much more.

Stay tuned for more info as it is announced as we near the start of the next season.

Dilligaf Pounds Dragons
7-0 Loss Ends Badly (2/24)

The Dragons got pounded Wednesday night by dilligaf 7-0. Sporting only a skeleton crew and a backup emergency goalie using rink gear. This game started and ended poorly for the depleted Dragon squad. With Dave Spencer jumping into net at the last minute and having no warmups things started badly as Dilligaf scored three times in each of the first two periods.

As the third period disintegrated as the division leading Dilligaf never called off the dogs and things began to get ugly and the game was ended prematurly with :20 seconds left as penalties and tempers REALLY began to flare.

Spencer did stop 32 of 39 shots on the night. With the final game of the season coming the next night against the Big Dogs one can only guess which Dragons squad will show up.

Dragons Drop One to Goon Squad
Slow Start Seals Fate (2/20)

The Dragons dropped a 6-3 game to the Goon Squad on Wednesday night. With the slow start the Dragons had coupled with a subsitute goalie who had no time to warm up and one cannot help but wonder, where were the Dragons on that cold Wednesday evening?

With Jack-of-all-Trades Dave Spencer subbing in for regular netminder Eric Vieweg at the last second, the Dragons started slow and fell behind early and were down 4-1 after one period. But the ole blanc et rouge never quit and only gave up a pair of goals in the second to be behind 6-1 after 2. With time dwindling the Dragons added a pair of scores in the third period to make the final score 6-3. Scorers for the night were Jason Carrier, Rit Carter and Mike Connors. Adding helpers were Jim Gaglione, Connors, Carter and Chris Szymula. Sub goalie Spencer despite the slow start stopped 21 of 27 shots for the night.

Up next for the Dragons is a pair of games on Wednesday and thursday next week facing Big Dogs and Dilligaf. Both games are at 9PM.

Dragons Lacking in 4-1 Loss
ESP Tops Dragons (2/5)

The Dragons were left lacking on Wednesday when they dropped a 4-1 game to ESP. With what seemed to be a case of "What is this game itis" the Dragons did not muster any semblance of offense in a game that seemed to be theirs for the taking.

Yet using the "Craig Belanger" Offense style from the 90's Dragons teams, which was first resurrected in the prior game they managed only one goal and it was credited to the wrong player! Mike Ugliorolo ws credited with what seemed to be Dave Spencer's goal from BEHIND the net. Adding the only assist on the fluky score was Jim Gaglione.

Playing a solid night in net was netminder Eric Veiweg. He stopped 28 of 32 shots on net. Up next is a two week layoff and then the Dragons finish up with games on the 15th - 8PM, 22nd - 9PM, and the 23rd - 9PM.

Dragons Make it Two in a Row
Big Dogs Fall 3-2 (1/26)

The Dragons made it two wins in a row Thursday night as they knocked off the Big Dogs in a late game. With a late scratch to the forwards, winger Chad Hosegood went AWOL, defenseman Dave Spencer made the most of his opportunity on the O as he scored twice, including the game winner.

Eric Vieweg came up big in net time and time again, as he stoned the Dogs on 17 of 19 shooting and also had an assist. Rit Carter chipped in with the other goal to round out the scoring. Adding helpers tonight were - Andy Cox (2a), Jason Carrier (1a), and Jim Gaglione (1a).

Up next for the Dragons is ESP next Wednesday at 6PM.

Dragons 1-2 Over Last3
Gaglione Notches Number 200 (1/24)

The Dragons have gone 1-2 over the last 3 games dating back to January 11th. Despite the poor showing (understatement), they do have one true highlight! Veteran forward Jim Gaglione notched his 200th goal as a Dragon in the 8-2 win over the Renegades on Sunday night.

Desipte the career achievment the Dragons have dropped 2 of the last 3 games, losing 4-2 to the Goon Squad on the 11th; 6-1 to Dilligaf on the 18th and the aforementioned 8-2 win over the Renegades on the 22nd. Gaglione scored number 200 with his completing a hattrick on sunday night during the rout.

With one scoring sheet currently unaccounted for, the following scored or assisted during the last 3 games - Jason carrier (2 g), Chad Hosegood (2a), Dave Shelto (1a), Andy Cox (1a), Mike Ugliorolo (1g 1a), Gaglione (3g 1a), Rit Carter (2g 1a), Mike Connors (1g 2a), Dave Spencer (1g 3a), and Dave Carter (1a). Holding the fort in net was Eric Vieweg stopping 75 of 86 shots on net.

Up next for the Dragons is the Big Dogs on Thursday 1/26 at 9pm.

Tie Extends Unbeaten Streak
3-3 Tie with ESP (12/18)

The Dragons extended thier modest unbeaten streak to 2 with a 3-3 tie with ESP on Wednesday night. Despite the tie, the Dragons' play continues to show improvement each night. With the new "Merc Line" line coming thru more and more each time they take the deck things seem to be looking up for the ole blanc et rouge.

The Merc Lne scored all the goals against ESP on Wednesday, as each member tallied. Chad Hosegood, Andy Cox and Jason Carrier scored with assists from Hosegod (2), Carrier (1), Cox (1) and one from Dave Spencer. Netminder Eric Vieweg was solid again in net stopping 36 of 39 shots. Of note defenseman Spencer left the game in the second period with as yet unknown injury, team doctors have yet to release any information on the mystery ailment, his status is day-to-day.

Up next for the Dragons is a matchup with the Goon Squad on December 11th at 7PM.

Dragons Breakthough!
Streak Ends at 18 (12/18)

The Dragons broke the losing streak tonight and got off an 18-game schnide. The 5-2 win over the Renegades makes the Dragons now 1-2 on the young season. Despite playing with only 1 sub, the Dragons managed tolimit the opposition to 27 shots on net.

Scoring tonight for the blanc et rouge were - Dave Shelto (1g 1a), Chad Hosegood (no chunks tonight!)(1g 1a), Dave Carter (WHAT!) (1g 1a), and Jim Gaglione (2g 1a), Chris "The Schmoo" Szymula added two assists. Once again playing stellar net was Eric Vieweg who stopped 25 of 27 shots tonight.

This wins marks the first win for the Dragons since July 30th in the Summer 2005 season. Up next for the Dragons is the Holiday Invitational Tournament on December 28th at 10 against ESP.

5-4 Loss to Dilligaf in Latest
Streak Approaching Biblical Proportions (12/16)

With the 5-4 loss to Dilligaf on Wednesday, the Dragons are now 0-2 on the season. This loss puts the streak at 18 and counting for the blanc et rouge. Despite a late rally in this one, the Dragons sloppy play early was the killer.
Scoring for the Dragons were Rit Carter, Jim Gaglione (2), and Jason Carrier. Aiding the offense with assists were Dave Shelto (2), and Gaglione. In net Eric Vieweg once again was stellar despite the let downs in front of him, stopping 33 of 38 shots.
Of note - this was the first game back for Shelto as he recovered from his busted fingers received late last season. Up next is the Renegades on Sunday 12/18 at 9PM.

Dragons Drop Opener
2-1 Loss, Streak Hits 17 (12/8))

The Winter Season opened last night for the Dragons and the Goon Squad hit them with a 2-1 loss. With 3 new faces on the floor, and a couple of regulars missing the Dragons had a little trouble meshing. The newcomers had a "little" trouble getting their deck legs about them, but despite this the Dragons held the Squad close all night.

Goalie Eric Vieweg "only" faced 31 shots on the night, and had the estimated crowd of 2 screaming in the second period with his miraculous save moving across the crease. Newcomer Chad Hosegood did more than score last night as he struggled with his legs with assists from newcomer Jason Carrier and Chris Szymula.

Up next for the Dragons is a matchup with Dillagaf next wednesday 12/14 at 10PM.

New Schedule Released
Dragons Placed in F-Division (11/30)

The winter schedule was released today and as expected the Dragons were placed in the F-division. The Dragons open play in the winter season on wednesday December 7th (yup, you guessed it, Pearl Harbor Day) at 10PM against the Goon Squad. See the Schedule link for a complete winter schedule.

And with the new schedule comes more roster changes, it seems that a nagging injury will keep defenseman Jim Hannon away from the squad for atleast the winter session. Hannon's agent failed to disclose completely the nature of the injury, but did state for the record that it is treatable and he should be completely healthy by March 2006, without any lingering afteraffects attributed to his ailment. This leaves the club wondering if the stellar D-man has violated the morals clause of his contract...

But by virtue of Hannons absence, this means some roster configuring by management, Dave Spenceer will now move from wing on the second line back to defense to compensate and places newcomer Chad Hosegood on second line wing.

Changes Abound for Winter
Dragons Look for Spark (11/10)

With the ending of one season a new is always around the corner for the Dragons. And with rumors running rampant over roster changes and which division the squad will be in, its only fair that management held a press conference early today to fill in the media. Below is the high or low points from that press conference.

Roster changes had to be coming and the club confirmed that point as they lose center Aaron Rutsky and wing Rick Urquizu. Rutsky was rumored to be moving on to another club and Urquizu is already on a club in the F Division. And that was the second point as league and rink officials confirmed last night that the club was being dropped to the F Division for next season.

With all that news was also the news of plans for the Winter session. The team has added 3 new players and sees some changes coming to existing players. Super Agent Eric Vieweg representing a pair of Mercenaries, the team he used to play for, signed Andy Cox and Jason Carrier. He also recruited a former ice hockey player - Chad Hosegood. And news of line changes is running rampant amongst the media which the team confrimed today announcing that winger Dave Shelto is dropping back the blue line and defenseman Dave Spencer will be playing winger with Cox and Carrier.

After all these announcements, the media was more than shell shocked and team officials left their media room with some very confused media members. And this writer will only hold judgement until the team opens the next season in early december.

Season Endds - Mercifully
Winless Season for Dragons (11/10)

The fall campaign ended last night with a 4-1 loss to the division leading Village Idiots 4-1. Despite what many considered the best effort of the season, the Dragons could not muster enough offense to overcome the Village people. After 2 periods it was tied at 1's, but a 3-goal third period gave the V.I. the W.

Dragon netminder Eric Vieweg unofficially set a Dragon record for a season after facing 49 shots, facing 475 shots for the season. Scoring for the blanc et rouge was Rit Carter on an assist from Rick Urquizu.

The fall season concluded with a winless season and a losing streak that dates back to the summer session, and has reched 16 games not counting playoffs. it was also the second 0-12 season in team history. Look for more information to follow as the new season is set to start in early december and schedules are due out on November 30th.
