Winless Campaign End
0-10-2 Season Ends with 5-3 Loss (8/21)

Neon Lights beat the Dragons 5-3 last night and ended a summer frought with disappointment. With almost a complete team less Jim Gaglione, the Dragons came unraveled in the third period as they allowed the final 4 goals of the game to cap a 5-3 loss.

Along the lines of moral victories was the fact that the Dragons actually had more players than the opposition for the only time this season. And the Dragons were not outshot on the night as both teams were credited with 21 shots on net.

Scoring for the Dragons last night were Mike Ugliorolo, Jen Wydra and Chris Pelletier. Scoring for Neon Lights was Mike Connors! (Oh and what a fine shot it was! :-) ) Adding assists were Connors (2), Rit Carter and Dawn Ladd.

Up next for the Dragons is the Fall Season, and schedules are due out next Monday 8/28.

Tough Summer Continues
Winless Streak Hits 11 (8/15)

With four more losses in recent action the Dragons winless streak has now hit 11 for the summer. Scores over the latest four games were 3-1 to Big Dogs, 3-1 to the Village Idiots, 8-0 to Twisted Monkeys and 8-3 to Dilligaf. This leaves next sunday's game against Neon Lights to nreak into the win column for the summer.

Scoring for the Dragons were Rit Carter (2), Mike Connors, Jim Gaglione, and Dave Carter. Adding helpers over the 4 game stretch were - George Dunnery (2), Gaglione (3), and Dave Carter.

While the highlights are few and far between for the blanc et rouge, the donation of Mike Connors' bloody socks to the Dragon Hall of Fame are immeasureable.

With the final game of the season looming on 8/20 the Dragons are looking to the fall session to rebound and also to add some familiar faces to the roster. There was a Dave Shelto sighting at a game recently and even his presence could not alter the outcome of the game. And rumors abound that Doug Stewart will soon be donning the white and red again in the fall.

Loss and a Tie in Recent Action
Winless Steak Hits 7 (8/6)

The Dragons passed the hlafway mark of the summer on a 7 game winless streak. But did get goals from someone named other than Rit Carter in most recent action as they lost to the Idiots and tied the Big Dogs.

In the6th game against the Village Idiots Jim Gaglione, finished with Little League duties, scored the gamesfirst and the Dragons only goal of the night as the Idiots scored the next 8. The goal was assisted by Dawn Ladd.

Up next was the first matchup of the season with the Big Dogs, the spring season champ, and the blanc et rouge rallied from 2 down to tie the Dogs in an overtime game. Jen Wydra scored her first goal for the Dragons and Rit Carter added the tying goal late in the third period. WIth both teams playing with only one sub it was a struggle throughout but the Dragons played just enough defense in front of netminder Tony Moura and he did the rest to keep the team in the game. Carter also added a helper to add to his team lead in scoring for the summer.

The Dragons next matchupp is against these very same Big Dogs on Monday 8/7 at 10PM. This is just the startup to the big finish to the season as the Dragons will be playing 3-in-a-row next weekend 8/13-8/15 and ending the season on 8/20.

Changes Abound for Summer Season
Rough Start to Summer (6/15)

As the summer season rolls into the 6th game, the Dragons find themselves hit hard with changes on the squad. After fighting hard in a playoff final series in the spring season, the Dragons were hit extremly hard by personnel changes. Losing two players to knee injuries (Dave Shelto and Chris Syzmula), the Dragons learned that winger Doug Stewart was signed to do an extended book signing tour in of all places Southeast Asia (it turns out he has a big following there!). After that loss hit the team, second center Eric McGucken informed the club that he was unavailable to play in the summer, somehting about crab fishing on the Bering Sea....Then with those losses stinging management defenseman Jim Hannon was forced to back out of his summer contract (legal action still pending) due to a conflict with another team in the pacific northwest. Once all the dust settled another long term loss hit as longtime Dragon Dave Spencer was forced into retirement due to family issues and lack of incentives inhis contract.

But hark the changes were not all to the negative, management replaced almost all the players lost for the summer. Joining the team were fowards Jen Wydra and Dawn Orzolek, coming in from the womnens Connecticut Correctional League and also foward Chris Pelletier and forward/defenseman George Dunnery. This left the Dragons only one full time player short for the summer season. Management welcomes all the new faces.

The summer season started off with a bang tho,as the Dragons fielded only 4 skaters and a goalie in each of the first two games which resulted in 9-0 and 8-0 losses. After adding the new players for game three, the Dragons managed to score a pair of goals but still lost 9-2. In game four things were looking brighter as the Dragons once again scored a pair of goals but in this game only gave up a pair and they earned their first point of the summer season!

In the most recent outing on this past Monday night, with almost everyone available at the rink the blanc et rouge was only down 1-0 after 2 plus periods to Dilligaf (the 9-0 loss in game 1). However the Dragons let their guard down a little in the third period and exhaustion seemed to come into play and the Dragons gave up six goals inthe final 7 minutes with the final score being 7-0.

As the Dragons enter their sixth game next Monday at 10PM, the Dragons find themselves looking for someone other than Rit Carter to score - yes he has tallied all 4 goals the team has scored so far this season.

Team management is looking hard at the additions and hopes that some of the lost players will return in the fall to bolster hopes of a better campaign next season.

Dragons Accolades!
Awards Well Earned Last Season (6/15)

This page would be remiss if it did not acknowledge the fact that two Dragons walked away (literally) from last season but also with some hardware. Doug Stewart garnered the Most Goals Award and netminder Tony Moura won the division's top goaltender award in his first season with the Dragons! Congrats fellas!

No Rest for the Weary or the Wicked! (6/14)

More to Follow....

No game 3 for the Dragons
Big Dogs Sweep in 7-5 W (6/14)

Late wire reports are not fully in as yet but the early reports of game 2 between the Big Dogs and Dragons have the Big Dogs a 7-5 winner of the F Division playoffs.

Triple OT Slays Dragons
Big Dogs Score First Win 2-1 (6/11)

A very undermanned Dragons squad fell in triple OT to the Big Dogs in game 1 of the finals tonight. After allowing a first period goal to the Dogs (at the 6:48 mark), the Dragons tighened up the D and held the Dogs scoreless for the remainder of regulation (23:12) and the first two 5 minute overtimes and then with only 19 seconds left in the third OT winger Eric Bentz scored on a breakaway to end the game.

Netminder Tony Moura absolutely stood on his head for the Dragons tonight as the Dragons were without defensemen Dave Shelto (knee) and Chris Szymula (knee) and center Mike Connors (business). This left the blanc et rouge with only 2 subs to start the final series. Moura stopped 35 of the 37 shots on him as the Dragons were outshot 37 to 22 on the night. Scoring the lone goal was Doug Stewart at the 5:34 mark of the third period assisted by Jim Gaglione and Eric McGucken.

Up next is game two on Tuesday at 7PM.
