New Schedule Released/font>
Just Call Us Team Yo-Yo (2/22)

With the completion of the Winter Season, the new schedule was released on 2/21. And just call us the yo-yos, we have bounced back down to F-Division after a brief appearance in E yet again.

The new season opens on Saturday March 3 at 4PM followed by game 2 on Sunday March 4 at 7PM. See all the Dragons then!

Hurricanes knock Dragons Off Again
3-1 Loss Ends Season (2/4)

With the Dragons season ending loss to the Hurricanes the Dragons closed out a disappointing winter season at 3-9. Just not having enough offense to match their opponents and being outshot 42-20, the 3-1 loss left the blanc et rouge wondering...... how soon before the F season begins?

Scoring the lone goal for the Dragons was Jim Gaglione on an assist form Doug Stewart. In net goalie Tony Moura stopped 39 of the 42 shots he faced.

What's next? Well it looks like the new season in the F division is ahead with some roster changes. Stay tuned.

Hurricanes knock Dragons from Playoffs
6-4 Loss Ends Playoff Hopes (2/4)

With a possible playoff berth on the line the Dragons could not muster enough offense on the night. That loss coupled with the announcement that winger Dawn Ladd was leaving the team to "find herself" left the Dragons wondering what direction the franchise was headed.

After taking leads of 1-0 and 2-1 the blanc et rouge found itself down 6-2 about halfway thru the third period. But goals by Dave Carter (how slow did that go?) and Mike Connors made the score 6-4 with 1:30 left in th egame but the offense sputtered after that and the Canes killed the remaining time off the clock for the W. Also scoring were Doug Stewart and Jim Gaglione. Adding helpers were Stewart, Gaglione, Carter, Connors and Chad Hosegood (2).

In net Tony Moura stopped 24 of 30 shots on net.

Up next is a 12 day layoff and then a matchup with these same Hurricanes on Feb 12 at 10PM.

Where's the Goals?
Dilligaf Shutout (2/4)

Dilligaf shut out the Dragons 3-0 on 1/24 while the Dragons could not muster much of an offense on the night. But on the bright side the Dragons did manage to get two penalties!

Netminder Tony Moura stopped 24 of 27 shots and his opposite numebr stopped ALL 22 shots the Dragons managed. Up next is the Hurricanes on Wed 1/31 at 9PM.

Dragons Win Close One
Gaglione's Goal Wins It (1/22)

Playing with a depleted squad the Dragons knocked off Dilligaf Monday night 2-1 to mark their third win of the season. Getting outshot 22-15 (does that seem a bit off?) the Dragons still managed to come away with the win.

Scoring tonight were Chad Hosegood and Jim Gaglione. Netminder Tony Moura seeming to be back at 100% after his slight knee sprain stopped 21 of the 22 shots sent his way.

This win earns the Dragons the right to face Dilligaf again on Wednesday night at 10PM.

Nuff Said Already
Blown out 10-2 (1/22)

With team management on a player development trip to Florida last week, the Dragons were handled by Nuff Said 10-2. This writer does not think there needs to be much said about Nuff Said in this space.

But on the bright? side, the Dragons did score twice - Jim Gaglione and Dennis Connors, and had 3 assists - D. Connors, Mike Connors and Dave Shelto AND Tony Moura didn't get hurt!

this leaves the Dragons with two matchups this week against Dilligaf - Monday and Wednesday both at 10PM.

Dragons Rally!
Comeback in Third Period (1/10)

Down 2-0 going into the third period, the Dragons rallied for a 3-2 win on Wendesday night. With Doug Stewart, Jim Gaglione and Chad Hosegood all scoring in the third period the Dragons overcame a tough Turds team and cameback in to the playoff picture with their second win of the season.

Hosegood scored the game winner with a mere 33 seconds left in regulation to cap the rally. And with Stewart (2), Mike Connors and Dave Shelto adding assists to aid in the rally and support the net minding of Tony Moura who seems to be almost back to top form after a knee injury earlier in the season - stopping 26 of 28 shots on net.

Up next for the Dragons is Nuff Said next Wednesday at 7PM. All hands are asked to be on deck due to an expected shortage of two players.

Hurricanes Rip Dragons
8-4 Loss (12/29)

The Hurricanes ripped the Dragons on Wednesday night as they scored 5 unanswered goals in the second and third periods to take a 8-4 win. With the score tied at twos, the Canes scored 5 times without an answer from the blanc et rouge.

As seems to be the story of the season for the Dragons, the bounces are just going the other way right now. Prime example is the when a Cane made a shot that hit off of the boards behind the net and bounced all the back above the cirlces onto the shooter's stick for an open net goal.

Scoring for the Dragons on Wednesday were Jim Gaglione (2), Mike Connors and Chad Hosegood. Adding assists were Connors, Doug Stewart and George Dunnery. Still recovering from a minor knee injury netminder Tony Moura stopped 24 of 32 shots on net.

Up next for the Dragons is The Turds on Wednesday 1/10 at 6PM.

Back into the Win Column
Dilligaf Falls in OT (12/21)

With a 3-2 OT win over Dilligaf the Dragons got back to winning ways Wednesday night. Once Again coming from behind, this time a 2-0 third period deficit.

Scoring for the Dragons was Chad Hosegood and Dennis Connors (2 including the game winner in OT). Adding helpers were Jim Hannon, Mike Ugliorolo, Rit Carter, Hosegood and Connors. In net, Tony Moura - nursing a bruised knee suffered against Nuff Said on Saturday, stopped 29 of the 31 shots on him.

It was a tightly played game throughout as Dilligaf scored in the first period and then early in the third to take a 2-0 lead. But Connors began the comeback with a goal at the 7 minute mark. Then Hosegood followed with one of the most unlikely goals in recent history as he tossed a shot on net from outside Dilligaf's zone, but he must have put some kinda of english on it as it bounced once or twice and then threw the goalie's pads for the game tying score. In OT the Dragons dodged a couple of open net bullets in their own end only to have Connors net the game winner with only 41 seconds left in OT.

Up next is the Hurricanes on Wednesday 12/27 at 7PM. Get your tickets early as they will go fast!

Dragons Gathering
Much Rejoicing Done (12/21)

After the Dragons 4th straight loss of the season, a portion of the team gathered to celebrate the Holidays and their recent Championship. There has not been so many Dragons in one place since St George slew his Dragon. Seven members met at Appleby's and enjoyed many a quaff and noshed. Rit Carter, Doug Stewart, Dave Shelto, Tony Moura, The East Hartford Mafia - Mike and Dennis Connors, and Dave Carter were in attendance to recount their recent success and to mock their most recent opponent, one wonders if the cherring was loud enough? there was also talk of a future gathering at a Wolfpack game.

There was much rejoicing, and talks of caroling soon came up, but none took place. Much to the chagrin of the Applebys clientel!

The Dragons are next in action on Wednesday December 20th aginst old foe Dilligaf at 9PM.

Dragons Drop Pair to Nuff Said
4-3 and 7-4 Losses Stretch Dtreak to 4 (12/21)

In recent action the Dragons dropped to 0-4 as they lost twice to Nuff Said, 4-3 and 7-4. In both games the Dragons the Dragons actually led but were not able to close out the opponent.

On wednesday, the Dragons led 3-1 after one period but allowed the final three goals of the game to fall 4-3. On saturday the Dragons came back from a 3-0 deficit to take a 4-3 lead only to fall 7-4.

Leading the scoring for the Dragons over the two game series was Doug Stewart with 4 gaals and an assist. Jim Gaglione (2g 2a) and George Dunnery finished out the scoring for the Dragons. Adding assists were Dennis Connors (3), Mike Connors (2), Mike Ugliorolo, Dawn Ladd, Rit Carter and Dave Carter. In net Tony Moura stopped 53 of the 64 hsots on him.

Up next for the Dragons is a Holiday/Championship get together following the Saturday game against Nuff Said. And then a game on the 20th against familiar foe Dilligaf.

Moura Back in Net - Yet Dragons Drop Another
Second Loss to The Turds (12/7)

After concluding negotiations with net minder Tony Moura, the Dragons dropped their second game in two nights to the Turds, this one by the score of 3-2.

Facing the same team two nights in a row, the Dragons led 1-0 after one period. But found themselves tied after two, 2-2. Despite also being outshot 39-26 (managed only 17 the night before) and not putting three goals into their own net, the Dragons did comeaway with a couple of moral victories but that don't put bacon in the pan as they say in the Great White North.

With the defense for the blanc et rouge leading the way in scoring Wednesday night, Dave Shelto and George Dunnery had the goals. The offense had plenty of pressure but just couldn't find the back of the net. ChadHosegood managed the only assist on the night for the Dragons. With the recently signed (5:45) Moura in net stopping 36 of 39 shots, things looked a little better for the boys in white the second time around against The Turds.

Up next for the Dragons are two matchups with Nuff Said on Wednesday and Saturday next week (9 and 5PM).

What? New Goalie for Dragons!!
Pulling a Parcells? (12/6)

In what many rinkside see as a drastic move, the Dragons began the new season on a down note but also saw a shocker in net. With former netminder Doug Stewart lashing on the pads for the season opener, many rinkside were gasping about the direction the Dragons franchise was headed. This move coupled with a 5-1 loss to the Turds just had the crowd shaking their heads afterwards.

But with contract negotiations stalled with Vezina Trophy winner Tony Moura, the Dragons were forced into Plan B for the game. Stewart looked like his old self after having 3 goals placed in his net by his teammates, saving 33 of 38 shots on net.

The Dragons would not muster much offense with their top scorer playing in net for the game and managed only one goal by Mike Connors on assists from Jim Gaglione and Dave Carter. This reporter has it from a anonymous source inside the Dragons front office that the contract talks will be stepped up in order to have Moura in uniform for Wednesday nights game. As the Dragons are slated to take on the same The Turds team at 6PM Wednesday.

It's One for the Thumb!
Dragons Comeback to Take Title (11/19)

The Dragons ended a 4 year drought tonight when they capped a 2-goal deficit in the third period with an overtime 5-4 victory over the Big Dogs. This is the 5th title overall for the blanc et rouge and first since December of 2002.

Go here for the pics after the win.

With the Dragons up 2-1 late in the frist period the Dogs put on an offensive show as they scored 3 goals in less than a minute to take a 4-2 lead into the second period. The score remained that way until the 3 minute mark of the second when Dennis Connors took it upon himself to bring the Dragons back. The score after two was 4-3 and remained that way until there was a mere 9 seconds left in regulation, that's when the East Hartford Mafia member struck once again on an amazing shot to tie the game on a short handed situation.

Going into overtime the Dragons seemed to take control of the game. Its unclear to the casual observer who actually scored the goal. In talking with several players coming off the floor after the game this reporter got anywhere from Chad Hosegood, to Mike Ugliorolo to Rit Carter and even one who claimed it was Jim Hannon! In the end the OFFICAIL scoresheet has it Hosegood from Hannon (the Hannon contingent disagrees with the official ruling on the floor but there was no convincing evidence from the replays to show it Hannon on the score). Neverless the "goal" was allowed and the Dragons won the first title in 4 years.

The scorers tonight were - Jim Gaglione, Rit Carter, Dennis "The Menace" Connors and of course Jim Han ummm I mean Chad Hosegood. Assisting tonight were Doug Stewart, Gaglione, Goalie Tony Moura and Mr. Hannon. Moura in net depsite a rough end to the first period once again kept the Dragons close and just waited for the offense to wake up enough to take the W. Moura officially stopped 22 of 26 shots but no shots were recorded ofr either team in the overtime action. So unofficially we'd have to add about 4 shots onto that total.

There were numerous honors paid to the Dragons this season, as they almost made it clean sweep of the regular season awards as Moura took home the Top Goalie award and Doug Stewart took home the Assists and Points trophies. But the MVP of the playoffs was the most difficult to award as there were many who deserved it. There was Jim Gaglione who led all scorers for the Dragons in the playoffs with 2 goals and 3 assists, and netminder Tony Moura who held the Dogs in check stopping 54 of the 60 shots he faced, but it went to Dennis Connors who brought the Dragons back in the final game with 2 goals and the last one forced the overtime. It was a split vote and very close and each guy deserved it. There was a rumor that the rink was going to produce 2 additional awards but the $$ for those was blown on the new scoreboard sitting in the viewing areas.

Congratulations to all the Dragons on the title and we'll see you on December 5th at 6PM as they open the Winter Season against The Turds.

New Schedule Released
Dragons Remain in E Division (11/18)

The winter schedule was released this week and the Dragons have remained in the E Division for one more season. With the fist game of the new season set for Tuesdya December 5th at 6PM.

There are a couple of old foes we recognize in the division as Dilligaf id back in E as well as Nuff Said and the Hurricanes. See the Schedule page for more info on the new season.

Dragons One Win from 5th Title
3-2 Win Over Big Dogs (11/18)

The Dragons are just one win away from their 5th title as they beat the Big Dogs 3-2 Saturday night behind goals from Mike Connors, Doug Stewart and Jim Gaglione. If not for the 5 really fluky goals nobody would have scored tonight on either side. It was just one of those nights where you swore that it was a friday the 13th or somehting because the ball bounced funny for both teams.

With the Dragons scoring first with only 40 seconds left in the first period as Gaglione fed Connors in front of the net. But the Dogs came back quickly in the second period at the 9:02 mark with a shot from inside their own end. The Dragons waited until the 3rd period to break the tie on a goal from Stewart only to see another strange shot from the Big Dogs find the back of the net with only about 4 minutes left to play in regulation. But with about 1:50 to play Rit Carter hit Gaglione with a breakaway pass and Gags put it away to score the game winner. Adding helpers tonight were Gaglione (2), Connors and Rit Carter.

The Big Dogs out shot the Dragons tonight 30-20 but netminder Tony Moura was awesome as he stopped 28 of the 30 shots. And a couple of the saves were just ones you can only shake your head at and say thank god he's on our side!

There is very little time for either club to lick their wounds as they head back into action tommorrow night at 7 PM with Game 2 of the best of three series.
