They now enter the playoffs and facce the first place Blueline Bombers in a win or go home matchup on 1/3 at 4PM.

Dragons Knock Off Fubar
4-3 Win Ends Winless Streak (12/14)

The Dragons ended a five game winless streak over the weeknd with a hard fought 4-3 win over Fubar. Stats and other information are currently unavailable as rink officials were still deciding suspensions for a game ending scrum. We do know that Mark Gilardini and Mick Pechenuk scored single tallies and Dean Waller scored twice to seal the win for the blanc et rouge.

Tony Moura back from an extended European scouting mission was solid in net in the victory.

The win places the Dragons solidly in third fourth place and has secured a playoff berth in the team's quest for an unprecendented third straight championship trophy. Up next to close out the season - Sports on Saturday 12/27 at 6PM. Please see the Schedule link for the Playoff Schedule.

Winless Skein Reaches 5
Bomber and Agent Orange Losses Hurt Playoff Chances (12/14)

The Blueline Bombers shutout the Dragons in a recently played game 6-0 foolowed by a loss to Agent Orange, 5-1. These two losses put the Dragons in a must win situation when the next game against Fubar comes up on 12/13.

These two losses were without key members of the team present and in the case of Agent Orange the starting net minder Tony Moura. Both games had players playing out of position for a major portion of the games but as usual the Dragons played on and fought to the bitter end of both contests. With only two games remaining, the Dragons now find themselves in a MUST WIN contest against Fubar. The winner would hold the upper hand for the fourth and final playoff berth.

Scoring the only points in the two losses were Dave Carter (1 goal) and Mike Giovino (1 assist). Netminnders Tony Moura and Chad Hosegood, played well despite teh outcomes. Up next - Fubar on 12/13.

Dragons Tie Bombers
4-4 Tie Ends Losing Streak (11/25)

The Blueline Bombers and the Dragons tied Saturday afternoon 4-4. With the tie the Dragons ended a two game losing streak but continued a 3 game winless streak.

The Dragons took an early lead but the Blueliners answered back to lead 2-1 after one period. In the second period the blan et rouge scored 3 times to lead 4-2 going into the final stanza. But the offense ended and the Bombers scored twice and the game ended after OT still deadlocked at 4s.

Playing against a fourth former Dragon goalie (Jim Marks, Joe Koonankiel - Flyers, Mike Marinaro - Titans and Eric Vieweg - Agent Orange) the Dragons now have 9 points on the season. Scoring for the Dragons were - Jim Gaglione, Mike Connors, Chad Hosegood and Mark Gilardini. Adding assists were - Gilardini (1), Gaglione (2), Hosegood (1), and Mick Pechenuk (2). Back in net after a short absence was TOny Moura and he stopped 43 of 47 shots on the night.

The two teams get to do it up one more time on December 1st at 6PM.

Titans Make It a Lost Weekend
3-2 Loss Drops Dragons to 4-3 (11/19)

The Titans dropped the Dragons 3-2 Saturday night capping an 0-2 weekend for the blanc et rouge.

With 4th string goalie Dave Carter in net, the Dragons seemed to control play early, but were down 2-1 after one period. As the Titans only scored one in the second to take a 3-1 lead things were looking bleak but the Dragons kept moving forward and scored with a minute to play but could not manage the tying score as the game ended.

Scoring for the Dragons were Rit Carter and Chad Hosegood and adding a pair of assists was Mike Giovino. D. Carter managed to stop 23 of the 26 shots he faced and credited his good fortune with the defense in front of him limiting the Titans to a mere 26 shots.

Up next is division leading Blue Line Bombers on Saturday 11/22 at 5pm.

Flyers Take Down Dragons
Repeat of Game 1 (11/15)

The Dragons lost today to the Flyers 5-1. It was the second loss of the season for the Dragons and both to the Flyers. After scoring on their first shot of the game the Dragons offense went silent for the remainder of the contest.

Marc Gilardini, miraculously back from injury, scored late in the first period on assists from Chad Hosegood and Mike Giovino. But despite the teams efforts they were down 2-1 after two periods. With the blanc et rouge offense floundering, the Flyers took advantage and tacked 3 more goals on in the third.

The loss leaves both teams 4-2 on tied for the division lead.

The weekend is only begining for the Dragons as they follow up this game with another on Sunday against the Titans at 8PM.

Sportys Latest Victim
9-2 Rout, 4-1 Record (11/8)

The Dragons went to 4-1 on the Fall season as they routed Sportys 9-2 Saturday. Details are currently sketchy but rinkside spectators say it could have been worse. But it was not without a price for the blanc et rouge as forward Mark Gilardini seems to have sustained a hamstring injury. The extent of which is currently unavailable.

A number of Dragons scored twice today and Tony Moura was sharp in net again but only faced 15 shots. The Draogsn scored three times in each period but none was more curious than the third period goal by Mike Giovino as the Sportys goalie stood off to the side of the net on the shot form the black line (curious???).

Up next for the Dragons is a busy weekend on the 15th and 16th as they face the Flyers and Titans, followed by a pre thanksgiving game against the Blueline Bombers on the 22nd.

Titans Fall Before Dragons
Gaglione Leads Way with Hattrick (11/1)

The Dragons and Titans hooked up today in an early matinee before at least 5 spectators and the Dragons came away with a 5-1 win as Jim Gaglione scored a hattrick.

With birthday boy Chad Hosegood and Mike Giovino (scored his first Dragon goal since the winter season of 2002) closing out the goals for the Dragons it made the hype and circumstance of the postgame jersey retirement seem much shorter than the 4 hours spent celebrating numbers 1 and 21.

Net tender Tonmy Moura stopped all but one of the 29 shots he faced and in rare case of mistaken identity the Dragons actually outshot the opposition 40-29. This fact had rink historians looking frantically through the rink archives to see when the last time it was that happened.

Adding assists on the afternoon were Giovino and Hosegood (2 each, Dean Waller, Mike Connors and dave Carter each chipped in with one each. Up next for the blanc et rouge is Sports next saturday at 6pm.

Jersey Retirements
Stewart and Connors to be Feted (10/28)

Dragons management announced this week that two jerseys will be retired this weekend sometime either prior to or post game on saturday. The jerseys of #1 Doug Stewart and #21 Dennis Connors will lifted to the PISA rafters (ceremoniously of course) to honor their time with this storied franchise. While neither is precluded from returning to active status with the club it is looking more and more doubtful that they will return anytime in the near future.

Dennis Connors is known for his heorics in the playoffs and for the 3 Playoff trophies stolen from him. And he leaves currently number five alltime in Dragon scoring with 166 points, number six all time in penalty minutes (22.5) - quite the accomplishment given his usual part time status with the club. Injuries and foot surgery has prevented Stouts from further deck action and only limited him to his duties with his OTHER club, the East Hartford Blades (its a ROLLER team folks). He made up one-third of the storied "East Hartford Mafia" (Joe Morrissey and Mike Connors make up the other pieces to that group). News has also reached club officials that a new generation of Connors may soon be with us as the recently married Mafia member and his bride are expecting their first child - CONGRATULATIONS!

Doug Stewart was known as much for his book signings as his scoring and goaltending for the blanc et rouge. Currently number three all time in Dragons scoring with 269 points and number three all time in wins as a Dragon goalie with 23. As his "job" took him from the squad at a time when he was closing in on the top two scorers in Dragon history one can only imagine what heights his totals would have reached if he did not have to work for a living.

Ceremony plans have not been finalized but suffice to say it will be with all the reverance and circumstance befitting both players.

Team Celebration
Dinner and a Conversation (10/26)

The Dragons gathered after the FUBAR game or at least 6 of them did, to celebrate at a local watering hole (okay it was Applebee's) to celebrate the 7th championship in team history. The talk was lively and almost sureal. But soon took a distrurbingly weird turn as talk of names and numbers and monacles ensued.

Talk of the first trivia contest was mentioned but strangly enough no talk of danlging chads. Except fo rthose present can anyone name the first 50 year to suit up for the Dragons is, or who has the most own goals in team history? And who is playing on thier birthday this season?

Thankfully nobody had a bottle of Chardonnay or any cheese and crackers. And talk of a holiday revival was bandied about, Stay tuned for more details.

Dragons Hold Off FUBAR
6-4 Win, 2-1 Record (10/25)

The Dragons held off a comeback by Team FUBAR saturady night and went to 2-1 on the Fall Season. Led by a hattrick by Dean Waller and goals by Mick Pechenuk, Chad Hosegood and a "Galione Curl" by Jim Gaglione, the Dragons held off a comeback by their opponent. Leading 5-1 with less than 3 minutes to play the Dragons withstood a 3 goal flurry to win 6-4.

In a rare case of outshooting their opponents (38-24) the Dragons controlled the pace for most of the game. Netminder Tony Moura stopped 20 of the 24 shots he faced and the Dragons also took a rare too mnay men penalty int hesecond period. It had team historians scramblimng for the last time that the blanc et rouge had a team penalty called on them (they still have not found it).

Adding assists were Mike Giovino, Hosegood, Pechenuk, Gaglione and Mike Connors. Up next is a contest next saturday (11/1) with the Titans at 2PM.

Bounce Back Game
Face Former Goalie in 3-2 Win (10/20)

The Dragons bounced back nicely fromthe first game loss to the Flyers last night as they faced former goalie Eric Vieweg and came away with a 3-2 win and a .500 record.

Playing with a full two line squad for the first time in so long that noone could remember the last time they did that, the Dragons played solid all night and the two newcomers have fit right in so far. Mark (last name not know at this writing) and Mike Giovoni (actually not so new to the Dragons). Missing in action so far for the blanc et rouge have been Chris Roman and Dean Waller although they are expected back for the third game (the team is mum on what exactly is keeping them out of the lineup and off the floor).

Netting the goals tonight were Jim Gaglione, George "The Condor" Dunnery, and Chad Hosegood. Adding assists were Hosgood and Dunnery. Making his first appearance of the fall season was netminder Tony Moura and he too played well in his return stopping 29 of 31 shots on net.

Up next for the Dragons is a matchup with Team Fubar on Saturday 10/25 at 6PM with a championship gathering afterward at a local establishment to be deteremined.

Dragons Drop Fall Opener
Undermanned Team Plays Tough but Falls (10/18)

The Dragons dropped their fall season opener to the Flyers on October 8th. The final score was 3-1 with the Dragons playing undermanned and a third string goalie in net. Could it be that the championship blues overtook the squad as they headed in the opener? By the result yes, but given it was a third string goalie and a one-sub team, things were actually much better than expected for the blanc et rouge.

With most reporters boycotting the game due to management mishandling the press invites to the post chamionship celebration, anynews of the game has been leaked out to the public via Radio Free Europe. One rinkside also noted that the Dragons do not carry the blue pinney look well. Up next for the Dragons is an 8PM 10/19 matchup with Agent Orange.

7th Crown is in Dragons Hands
Moura Leads Shutout to Title (10/4)

The Dragons took their 7th title in team history Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 shutout of the Titans in game 2 of the best of three. Netminder and top goalie winner, Tony Moura stopped all 36 shots today, while the defense led by MVP Mick Pechenuk, held firm throughout the entire playoff series (the team only allowed 2 goals in the three games played).

The game was scoreless until midway point of the second period and had the look of a repeat of game 1, but Chad Hosegood scored with 4:58 left in the second and then in the third Dean Waller knocked one home in a flurry of activity in front of the net and Pechenuk netted an empty netter with less than 20 seconds to play. Adding assists today were Waller, Hosegood, Rit Carter and Mike Ugliarolo.

this is the second time in team history that the blanc et rouge has gone back-to-back (the first was in 2002) and the 7th title in team history. All this means is that the first game of the next season is that much closer to being played - Wednesday 10/8 at 10PM.

Dragons Take OT Thriller
One Win From Title (9/30)

The Dragons played their best game in many seasons tonight and are one win from back-to-back titles in the F2 division. Behind the stellar goaltending of netminder Tony Moura and goals from Chad Hosegood and Mick Pechenuk the Dragons took the fight to the Titans and outplayed them with only one sub.

Adding assists on the night were Mike Connors and Dave Carter. Moura stopped 36 of 37 shots. With game 2 set for Saturday (10/4) at 4pm the Dragons can clicnh their seventh title and win back to back for the second time in team history (previously done waaaay back in 2002).

Many rinkside inthe media pool felt that the outmanned Dragons were in for a long night before play began but the longer the game went scoreless the better their cahnces got. But giving up the games's first score in the third period with 4:22 to play left the blanc et rouge down but not out. And Hosegood's goal :59 later tied it up and set up Pechenuk for the OT winner.
